Another GAD Upgrade Question MILITARY

Heres a question:

My dad is retired military and he and my mom are thinking of going to Disney with us

My family (me, DH, DS11, DS8 and DS1 ) have GAD vouchers (well, not the baby, but he doesn't need a ticket of course).

My dad is thinking of purchasing the Military Salute tickets for him and my mom, my H and me, and his two grandsons (he can purchase six).

So my question is - could we upgrade our GAD tickets for the Military Salute tickets? I am worried that since the Military member did not do GAD and he is the one who has to buy and validate the tickets it may be a problem.

Any input would be appreciated

I know you asked this in the other thread but haven't gotten an answer yet...so I'll at least give a preliminary answer based on everything I've absorbed from Cheshire Figment, who will hopefully give a more concrete answer when he gets a chance, and others who have responded in this area.

I believe the answer is yes, everyone can upgrade their GAD tickets to the military salute tickets even if the service member does not. However, the service member must be present with his ID at the time of the transaction, since he is the only one authorized to get the tickets.

Just like with any other ticket upgrade, you pay the price difference between the ticket you have and the ticket you want, plus tax.

The GAD ticket is worth the same as a MYW 1-day base ticket - $79 for an adult. So if you want to upgrade to a 7-day base ticket, which is $234, you'd pay $155+tax.

He would purchase two of the Armed Forces Salute tickets outright and upgrade the GAD tickets to the Armed Forces Salute tickets, paying the difference (plus tax). The ticket for the 8yo will only be worth $68, while the others will be worth $79. And you will probably have to get the GAD tickets and use them before you are allowed to do the upgrade.
