Another Fantasmic question...........

I had originally planned on doing the package, however my party size may increase by one (my daughter has not confirmed if she is joining us) so I decided to re-book my ADR to a 5 person to accomodate her in the event she does come. The Brown Derby was full for the packages and they could not give me a new ADR. I'm not too upset because I felt a 4:00 ressie was too early anyway, so what I did is went ahead and booked a 5:15 non package dinner at BD. That night they have Fantasmic scheduled twice (once at 6:30 and once at 8:00). So my question is, do you think that the 8:00 showing will have less of a wait? Or do most people prefer that time? I don't want to be stuck waiting over an hour in line with my DS6 and DS7. The CM who booked they ADR seemed to think that the majority of people would opt for the 6:30 showing and that there would be a reasonable wait for 8:00. Also this is an EMH night at DHS.

What do you think? Should I switch restaurants and book with the package?

Thanks!

If its an EMH night at DHS both shows will be "well attended". I think you should plan on waiting on line and be delighted if its a short wait. By the time you finish dinner, say 7pm you'll need to head over for the line. There is no holding spots in line so you'll all get in line and wait.

Maybe try for one of the other Fantasmic pkg restaurants. We liked H&V, not everyone will, but it was fine for us and the passes were nice to have.

In my experience its a hit or miss thing. Sometimes if you wait until they are letting people in you can still walk right in and get a seat and then there are other times like when we went at Christmas when you wait and then get stuck standing in the very back where it is hard to see and less "magical" b/c a) your standing and b) most of those people didn't really seem to care that they were there so they were talking a lot thus ruining the experience for others who wanted to enjoy it. So if you want to be safe I'd say cancel with bd and rebook the dinner package with another place or wait in line with everyone else, which ever you prefer I hope it all works out. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

I should have added that we will be there the first week of November. Does this make a difference?

We did H&V and enjoyed it - since it's buffet, everyone got what they wanted and we could eat as quickly or as slowly as we wanted to for our schedule.

In the end you have to decide what is more important to you: Eating at HBD or seeing Fantasmic. No matter what we say on these boards, w/o the passes you MAY not get to see the show or as described above have a less magical time. If you don't mind possibly mssing it or standing in the back, go and enjoy that ADR. You may get to enjoy that non pkg dinner and walk right into Fantasmic or not, no one can say for sure. The pkg is the only way to know for sure. By the way a 4pm dinner isn't that early for a 6:30pm show. Especialy when they ask that you be in line 30-45 mins ahead of show time.
