Another Disney Store validation....

Don't feel bad, we too have no stores left. The closest is over an hour's drive away. We went from nearly 15 several years ago to just 2 which are 60 to 80 miles from our home in a different state.

We have some great CMs at our store. I will be very sad to see it leave. It was the only one in the entire state. Suppose Disney will be opening any new stores?

When are these stores supposed to close?

Madi, are you talking about the Northpark Store? I used to be one of the CMs. But, after Hoop Retail took over and Jodie left as SM, almost all of us bailed. Not only is Northpark slated to close but so are Peoria and Rockford. As far as I'm concerned, that's just one more reason for me to go to The World more often!! :)

I just read the April 3 documents and if you go through most of it you will find that document b is not a list of stores closing but a list of stores being bought out by an accusition company when they refer to closing in this document they are refering to the settlement paper work. Such as when you buy a house you are given a closing date to sign the paper work. These stores are not being bought out by the walt disney company however unless the accusition company is owned by disney just using a different name. So for the poster above who also lives in PA our stores are not closing just yet not unless this accusition company chooses to close them however they are not going to be owned by disney more than likely either.

I really hope they don't really close all those stores.

I'm in Indiana and if that list really happens then we'll loose all of ours around here. BUMMER!!!

I worked for TDS for 6 years while it was still owned by Disney. I actually worked in 3 different ones, one of which Disney up and closed giving us less than a months notice. :sad2:

I am pretty shocked to see two of those Indiana stores close. I haven't been personally involved with them for 6 years so I know a lot could have changed but they always did very well. The one I frequent seems to sell out of stuff fast so I just assumed it was still doing well.

Pittsburger here, and I was surprised at how many Pgh area stores (ALL!!) are remaining open. I figured we'd get to keep one in the area, but it appears they all are staying according to the documents (South Hills Village, Ross Park Mall, Westmoreland Mall, Century III Mall, The Mall At Robinson) all are within a 30/40 min, give or take a few mins, drive from each other.

Then other states are losing all their stores- it just seems strange. There must be some science/reason for the choice of which stores Disney *wants* -not sure what it is though.... could be the Simon Property thing as they are all Simon Malls (I think). I hope Disney chooses to OPEN NEW stores in states without a Disney Store. It's sad, my daughter LOVES to go there, and it makes a good bribe when I have to get some shopping done :lmao: It's a little piece of WDW so far from FL.

I really feel bad for all the employees losing thier jobs

Another concerned person about all the stores not being acquired by Disney in our state! Seems that PA is being hit harder than anyone else, and when you consider three of the stores on that list are less than a year old...seems so strange!

I will especially be sad to see our local Bershire Mall store close. Not only do we shop and visit there often, but we know several who work for this store as well. It feels like you are losing a friend :guilty:

Then when you realize any stores within a reasonable driving distance (less than 90 minutes) will close also, and you start to feel really awful. I hope something else can happen with these other stores.

Looks like all the Massachusetts are safe

Taunton ( where I shop)
Marlborough
Saugus
Holyoke
Braintree
North Attleboro

Tiggger1, we must be neighbors! Taunton is my store as well. So happy to see the store will be changing for the better. I don't really go there nearly as much as I did when they sold cool watches and Disney art books.

Yep. There's an older guy that works that that is just super friendly. There is someone that was in there about a year back that I did not care for at all, but seems to be gone now. I guess we'll have to head to Chicago to go. The only store in Iowa and the one in Nebraska is closing too.

The Berkshire Mall store is where I shop also. I don't personally know any of the CMs, but they are always happy, helpful & friendly. You know how you just get to know the people who work in a store. Well, on a trip, I bumped into one of the CMs in the Epcot store where he transferred. You would've thought we were long-lost relatives! We hugged & talked for quite awhile. It will be sad to see the store close. :sad2:

Here's the BIG QUESTION: Are those stores that are closing having a huge "going out of business" sale? Imagine the shopping opportunities... :goodvibes

Can anyone tell me if the store in Albany NY at crossgates mall is going to stay?

I spoke to assistant manager at the Mall Of America (Minnesota) and she said they got word that thiers will stay open. That is the only Disney Store in the Twin Cities area that I know of (a yellow pages search only comes up with this one), so that is good.

I'm glad to hear that the MOA store is one they plan to keep open, and that those who work there will be able to keep their jobs. I hope Disney puts some money into the store. The original Disney store at the Mall of America was very nice, but the one they have now just looks terrible.

The older guy is Mike. He's retired and LOVES Disney. I left almost two years ago. Just couldn't take the falling standards anymore. I've only walked into the store a few times since and the sight of all the plush just piled in the mountain just about brings me to tears.

Do you live in the Quad Cities?

I had the same thought. I called the Northpark Store and asked. They have convinced themselves that they aren't really going to close :confused3

O.K., so I've officially spent an hour trying to figure this out and can't tell if mine is on the closing list or not. Anyone know if Cincinnati Ohio, Tri-County Mall will remain?? Please tell me it is :)

Sorry, no. It's on the list to be closed. :sad2:

Thank-you! The manager in Braintree was the manager when I started working there many yrs. ago and she has stuck it out through lots of bad times. I would hate to see her go. Also, after a major downward spiral the store is fun to shop at again, so I am glad it is sticking around. (and glad yours is too. :) )
