Disney loses another executive
By Leah Zanolla
Nov 10, 2009

News outlets are reporting that Disney executive Mark Zoradi resigned his post as president of the company's motion picture group, effective immediately. His departure comes approximately two months after the sudden resignation of Disney Studios chairman Dick Cook.

During his 29 years with the company, Zoradi was involved in many areas of the Disney company ranging from worldwide marketing to home entertainment. Just last weekend Zoradi was honored with the Louis B. Mayer Motion Picture Business Leader of the Year Award from his alama mater, UCLA.

Hmmmm....probably a little too close to the old regime...just a guess, though! Perhaps Dick Cook is getting a new locale and is bringing pals with him?

Can't say I think Dick Cook's leaving is a real tragedy. Disney (live action) films have been mostly mediocre since the first PotC, and often big CGI messes. Sure, some of them made money - but I'd rather see some consistent quality coming along, too. (Prince of Persia looks like another CGI mess - don't it?) I understand he was a super nice guy and much of the above-the-line players (particularly Depp) loved him, but not sure that it is really going to hurt Disney output. The new guy in charge - say what you want about Disney Channel - but he found some major successes there and deserved a look at the big (screen) time.
