hi,
not exactly a disney campground question but thought some of you might be able to help
this weekend at a campground in south east mo we saw a camper with their dish mounted on the side with suction cups. Have any of you seen anything like this before? Unfortunately we were never able to talk to them about it seems they had parked their camper there for a month.(you can do this at our state parks)

thanks again for your help

Trish

I don't know about the suction cups but if you are looking at an inexpensive way to take along your dish this is what we do:

we got an extra dish for our particular provider and mounted it to a 6x6 piece of wood. it adjusts on that piece of wood just like it does on the house so we can tune it in. we did not want to spend the money on a tripod so this was what we came up with (saw others at FW too). we also put a very long piece of cable on it since you never know how far you may have to take it to get a signal.

then you just take one of your receivers from your house and put in the zip code at the campground you are staying in then tune it all in.

Yup, he has it on the wood and one extra to spare (our neighbors moved and gave us their 2 receiver satellite dish and receivers so we were lucky in that retrospect. The tripod is actually for the "old" Cannon camera.. he has used the tripod a few times. We have also seen folks using Pcp pipes too..

Now he just has to rig a way for the cable to go thru the camper instead of out of the back door.. (30 ft 4winds TT)

by the way are they hamsters jumping up and down? :) my daughter just noticed them :)

thanks again

hi again

I just noticed you are from AL. :) we are thinking of going the long way down to FW from St louis.. should we stop over in Gulf shores? or just head on over to the Fla pan handle for a rest over.(the girls want tolook for shells and play in the sand ) We plan on leaving here Thursday arriving at FW on Sunday. The return trip we will head up thru Ga it's shorter route but we are tired of going the "same way " every other year.

thanks again

Trish

We have a second dish that we have mounted on a small tire rim. The rim doesn't ever need to be replaced due to rotting. There is a satellite connection on the outside of our RV, it sits beside the cable hookup. It is nice that they are adding this feature, sure beats having to run it through windows or the slide outs.

if you are looking for someplace to stay in your camper, there are slim pickins in the Gulf Shores area. Alabama has a state park in gulf shores that has a campground but it is not directly on the beach. The campground that we were going to use near our family condo in orange beach that was directly on the beach has now closed. You might can find something in Pensacola that has a campground or go to the KOA in Panama City at Alligator Point. Hope this reaches you before you leave! Those little critters jumping up and down represent my three kiddies. OH!, There is a campground near the naval air station in Pensacola called Blue Lagoon or Blue lake; it is a Florida state park so do a web search to find it. It appears that they are on the beach and probably 30 min's off the interstate exit.

we are not leaving until October 14.. so i have plenty of time to research :)

one of our choices is the KOA at Alligator Point.. If my mom decides to go along she will be thrilled about being close to the base.. (dad was retired Col in the Army)for some reason she has an addiction to finding commissary's on our vacations :).. She travels with us quite frequently..I figure they hauled us across the States and throught out Europe so we might as well take her with us on our adventures :)

thanks again for your help...
