I recently booked a room only with AAA for one of the Disney moderate resorts. I am bboking the airfare separately and will be purchasing the disney tickets from AAA right befoe we leave. My question is this: Do you have the option of purchasing the dining plan separately at check in? Can this be purchased for $38 pp for the length of the stay and added to your reservartion at that time. Will they still allow you to keep the AAA discount that was already reserved? Or, do you have to purchase the Disney tickets at check in also if you add on the meal plan? Just a bit confused. Thanks.

Being a AAA member it might be cheaper if you plan on adding the dining to due to through AAA since they have package rates for this that are supposedly cheaper than doing it otherwise. I know our rate to book through AAA with the Magic Your Way dining plan was $200 less than booking it ourselves. We still opted to go with a TA other than AAA since the price was not that big of a break and AAA in our loaction does not make dining reservations and to me it is worth the extra money to not have that hassel of phoning for reservations.

I would ask your AAA travel agent to give you quotes on all the options...I think I bugged mine to death, but I wanted to make sure I had all the information before I made a decision.

We're going in November and staying at POFQ for 7 nights, with the 7 day park-hopper and the dining plan. Through AAA and their discount, the total was about $200 less than the quote I received from Dreams Unlimited. At DU, they said that they couldn't use my AAA discount because my trip was now a "package" and packages didn't qualify for it.

Saving that $200 was definately worth asking a lot of questions.

I have already inquired about the package with AAA. The room is the only thing discounted with the package. Plus, there is a larger deposit due up front, and a cancellation penalty if cancelled 45 days prior to trip date. I do not want to do this. I always book everthing in pieces in case I have to cancel the last minute, in which case I can do so without losing alot.

I already have the room discount and am simply wondering if Disney allows you to add on the dining plan at check in, and if so, can you still keep the same room rate that you already have. Thanks.

No, the DDP can not be added without a package. You have to buy a package in order to add the dining plan. Only those staying at a DVC resort, on their points, can add DDP without being on a package plan.
I'm going down in May and would love to add the DDP, but since I hold an AP, and my dd will be getting one for this trip and one in Oct, we can't do a package. I guess the DDE card will have to do. That we got because we have an AP.
