I am a huge lurker of several forums but especially here as of late. Three times to the World as a kid but Nov/Dec-06 will be 1st family trip with DH, DS9, DD7, DD5 & DS4. So the planning stage is getting intense and I'm trying to set up the Ding Backdoor link from work (Thanks CarolynNC) and this is what comes up. Is this correct or should I try again? You guys are awesome by the way?

Sorry I can't help you because I got exactly the same thing! Looking forward to help for both of us.

That looks about right. If there was an active ding, you would see additional text. Included in that text would be an entry for an activationURL. You would copy that text out and paste it into a bvrowser.

By the way, you should probably try downloading and installing the most recent version of Ding!. It now supports the use of proxy servers and you might find that it works now on your work computer.

Good Luck...

I've read if you get the <status>2</status> you have a problem. If there is no current offer you should have a 0 where the 2 is located. I would uninstall DING and try again. It has also been suggested you disconnect from the internet when you do the uninstall then reconnect to download DING again. I know another poster was having difficulties and getting the same message. I was able to set up the backdoor link for them. I would offer to help with your link if my other computer hadn't crashed. Try the reinstall. If that doesn't work and I get my other computer operational I'll help you out.

I'm having the same problem. Can you help?

something is not configured right; this is what gives you the code "2" message. I agree with CarolyNC.

Disconnect from the internet (this step helped my work)

Uninstall Ding.

Connect to internet and reinstall Ding.

Get your Installation ID and Checksum ID with first posted Ding; write these numbers down.

Disconnect the Internet, unistall DING, set up your backdoor link.

Reconnect to internet and try it.

For your desktop, you will need to reinstall Ding again.

Boswellnakia,
I'm going to follow your instructions from work in the morning and I'll post my result. Thank you. Wish me luck! :tink:

Excuse me for being stupid, but what is Backdoor Ding? I have DING installed on my computer, but is Backdoor DING something different?

Backdoor DING is no different than regular DING.

Some people cannot load DING on work computers because of corporate firewall issues, etc. Someone posted instructions on how to create a link that can be pasted into any web browser to access DING. The "backdoor" link gives you the link to the current DING special. That link brings you to the ongoing DING special.

So...no download....no problems with corporate IT guys....and you can still access the DING special at work.

Speed :teleport:

Just an update.

I uninstalled Ding at home and tied again from work with no luck. I even followed instructions for disconnecting from internet etc.... Still get that <2> in there. Did this twice with same results. SO...... I'm getting my brother to install DING on HIS computer and email me the ID= and cksum= from the Registration Update link. Then I'll give it one more go. :confused3
Luckily I still have 9 months of planning time!

Could someone point me to these directions for the Back Door Ding? TIA.

Check the HISTORY OF DINGS FARES FOR ORLANDO thread in this Forum. Its in post #12 from CarolynNC. I would post the link - but I don't know how.
Good Luck :)
