Another Defunct Angie’s List

Maybe I'm late to the party, but why did 'Angie's list' change their name to just 'Angie'? I liked the old name since it implied it was a 'list' of something (i.e. home repair/maintenance/etc.).........which seems a lot clearer to me then the new name.

Another I forgot. Canada 3000 airlines from Toronto to Veradero, Cuba. US citizens couldn’t fly to Cuba in those days (2001) except via a third country. I think they ceased operations soon after 9/11.

DIS Angie issued a cease and desist order, so she can use the name on her threads.

Continental

i remember the heat they got from women's group back in '78 when they ran a campaign with the jingle 'we really move our tails for you' which included televised commercials featuring some lingering shots of the 'tails' of their stewerdessess while they were serving male passengers.

They even corrupted my name by eliminating the e!!! Now it’s just “Angi.”

I have no idea why they changed.
I used to fly on this airline when I was young. Does anyone remember the jingle?

I vaguely remember those commercials and the tune, but don’t remember the lyrics.

Or those old “Fly Me” ads with big busted stewardesses leaning forward provocatively.

From your list: Eastern many times, US Air many times, Pan Am, TWA, Continental, Allegheny, and Piedmont. I travelled a lot for my job in the 80’s and 90’s.

Others: America West, Empire, and Aloha Airlines (inter-island flights in Hawaii). And a couple times on the Trump Shuttle (NYC to Boston or DC), which started as the Eastern Shuttle, and later became US Air.

Air Tran and USAir. I think we booked Air Tran when we would go over to Europe. Was a pain though, as had to go out of NYC, as didn’t go from my City airport. For awhile, USAir was the only airline out of my City to FLA. Now mostly only use SW.

I came on here to mention Trump Shuttle, but AppleDumpling beat me to it! DH would fly between college and home on that, or one of the other shuttles. He would buy a book of ten tickets and just rip one out and use it when needed. Can you imagine flying like that today? And just last night at dinner we were discussing the Aloha Air miracle landing in 1988 after a section of the plane ripped off mid-air. DS16 likes aviation and saw a YouTube video about it.

Anyone remember Ozark Air? It was small propeller planes that flew routes around Missouri. I remember some really short flights and the Flight Attendants (still Stewardesses than) would bring out chiclet gum on a platter. Hilarious!

PSA was great in the 1970's and 1980's. No reservation needed. My company used to buy books of 20 tickets, you'd just walk up to the counter and rip a ticket out of the book and they would put you on the next flight. At one point in 1980 I was doing 3 roundtrips a week between Sacramento and Los Angeles for business.
I would also add Western......Hughes Airwest........to the list. Western Airlines big sales pitch was free champagne on every flight.
