We are thinking about going to Disney at Christmas time next year. We'd probably like to go a week before Christmas, before the kids are out of school. Has anyone gone the week or so before Christmas, like the 13th through the 23 time frame? How are the crowds then?

What do you think is the best time to go in December?

We went those exact dates a couple of years ago and the crowds were very light. Overall attendance is up at the parks but it should still be one of the least crowded of the year. The only part was making sure everything was done for Christmas before we left because there was no time after we got home.

I ditto mtdevine615's response. We have gone twice before and will be leaving again next week to do the same. It is a great time of year. Attendance is low. Everything is decked out for the holidays.

Ditto both above replies.......it's a great week to go, but, you do need to be
very organized and have everything done before you leave in order for it to work. It's probably my favorite week to be there, everyone is in the Christmas spirit and the decorations are absolutely beautiful. And it's nice to know.....everything at home is already done!!!!!

One thing to remember about Christmas is although the crowds peak, the parks are running at full capacity and there are tons of other things going on with extra hours extra.

Be organized, go early and stay late and you can work around the crowds.

OK, I'll be the voice of dissent!!! We went last year from the 16th through the 23rd, and we felt it was PACKED!!!! As others have said, the hours are extended and there's plenty of time to do everything if you use FastPasses wisely and get there at opening, but I've been in September when the crowds truly WERE light, and the week before Christmas doesn't begin to compare.

Ok so word is that the week of the 16th is packed...what about the 9-15? Will that be crowded as well? Or are we going to be ok? Taking small children <ages 6 and 3> I'm especially concerned about.

Thanks...and sorry didn't mean to hijack.

I think all the Pop Warner kids will be there for the first few days of your trip but after that it should die down.

We went the first week in December '03 and the crowds were light. It was a good time to go, and the decorations were great. Weather was the iffy part= a few nice days, around 70, and the rest chilly and rainy...

We are planning for Nov 1-6 ,2006, and Im hoping the crowds will be ok then too...Worried about post Halloween and finishing the trip right when it seems Jersey Week starts... any thoughts, people??

We were there last year 12/19-12/26. It was fine through 12/23. 12/24 was starting to get crowded. Christmas Day we went the CP for breakfast after that we attempted to stay at MK but the park was very crowded. We were only going to stay until noon anyway then hop to Epcot. We decided to go right to Epcot & the crowd there was much better. It did rain that day and we ended up going back to MK in the evening after leaving Epcot. It was great if you don't mind bad weather, which we didn't. The CMs were telling us that they couldn't believe that the park was not crowded as usual. Getting back to the week leading up to 12/25, we thought they were very managable for us. We have been to WDW as a family many times and I of course plan like crazy for each day. Also using fastpass to it's every advantage helps. We did everything we set out to do even with it being a little more crowded than when we have been earlier in Dec on past trips. It was also very special walking down Main St on Christmas morning. We got our picture taken & I remember it every time I look in my wallet.

we are going the 15th-22nd. I will let you know how the crowdes are. wooooo hoooo 10days left. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Have a great trip!

We went on Dec. 7th (Tuesday) - Dec. 16th (Thursday) last year. The crowds were light and we had a great time. :) I did notice a slight increase in crowds on Thursday the 16th at the MK but that could have been because of the EMH in the morning.
