Another Bush gardens Williamsburg question

We got Super Grover tickets. I haven't been to any BG since I was a child. We will for sure use the tickets this summer when we can travel to BG Williamsburg and also visit Water Country.

My question is......
Would it be worth going on Spring Break when just Bush Gardens is open? We are 7 or 8 hours away. Would we want 2 days there or just 1? We have young children (4, 5, 7, 7). We would get a resort with an indoor pool so that would be an activity for them too. I don't want to spend money on other activities. I am thinking I can get a place for around $170 a night.

Would you do it or should I just wait until summer when we can spend more time and also Water Country would be open?

Much of Busch Gardens is centered around the big rides. If your kids are too small to ride them, one day is plenty to see everything appropriate for young kids.

On the other hand, the flowers are always amazing there, so it could still be an interesting weekend trip.

The summers can be miserably hot. When we were there in summer of 2012, they cancelled the animal show because it was too hot for the animals. It was over 100 every day, so we went to the park for a couple of hours first thing in the morning and left to go back to the air conditioning.

We went to Williamsburg in summer 2012. I have 5 kids that at that time ranged from teenagers to the age of 2. Our whole family LOVED it. We did BG multiple days. There is an area for small children with a spray park & kiddie rides (look on the website). Regardless my kids loved it all. They are constantly asking when they can go back. We stayed at the Greensprings Resort and it was FABULOUS. It was summer and yes it was hot but we stayed near water at all times (except at Colonial Williamsburg). In Yorktown you can swim. I wouldn't go any other time except when all attractions are open. There's just too much fun to be had. Plan as if it were a trip to Disney. Bring spray bottles to keep you cool and or spend the earlier part of the day at the pool and head to the park when the sun isn't so high in the sky.
I forgot to mention we stayed a week. 1-2 days wouldn't have been nearly enough for us that's for sure.

We were also there end of June/beginning of July 2012 and it was around 100 everyday. We spent the mornings at Water Country and the evenings at Busch Gardens. It was hot but we survived. I actually think it kept some of the crowds away from the park that year.

We went back last year during Memorial Day weekend and the weather was spotty. The one day we planned for Water Country it poured and was cold but we stayed long enough for my son to do some of the big slides that are normally really crowded.

While we could have gone for Spring Break and just done Busch Gardens (we also did Yorktown and Jamestown this last trip), I still think it was better to go when both parks were open.

We are going back in June of this year to finish out our passes (we had 2 year platinum passes). We used them twice for BG, and during our Orlando trip over xmas we did Sea World and Busch Gardens Tampa. Well worth the money invested for us.

Your kids will probably love Water Country and all it has to offer as well. Might as well get your money's worth.

I think spring is a great time to go for the weather reasons mentioned and the flowers. If you are driving that far, I would go for longer rather than shorter, especially if you have other activities like the indoor pool to do. We went for three nights/two days and I thought it was too short for the drive (400 miles). Next time we go I think I will do five nights. Have fun

We just booked Greensprings resort for July 12th to 19th. It is a 15 hour drive for us from Ontario. We are very much looking forward to it.
We have platinum passes as well. We have used them in Dec at aquatica/Sw/ busch gardens florida and again in March. Then williamsburg in July. We got our use out of them.

We love Water Country. There is so much to do there and it is great in the summer heat. I would go when you could do both. We have found August to be less crowded than July.
