I have read the DCL policy and it isn't very specific, just that is has to fit in your carry on and must be drank in your stateroom. So am I ok to bring a box of wine, they seem to be making nicer wines in boxes and thought this might be a lot easier than carrying glass bottles? Also, I assume brining some mini-bottles of vodka would be ok and a lot easier than bringing a bottle of liquor?

Yes and yes. If you can fit a box of wine in your carry-on, you can bring it on. Many people used smallish bags with wheels. I like how the major liquor brands bottle in plastic. They must have had us in mind.

From what I understand you are just fine - just has to be in your carryon and you can bring whatever you like. We are bringing a couple bottles of rum and vodka and then just using the free drinks on board for mixers.

This will be my first cruise so maybe someone with experience can corroborate.

lol...us too. :p

The free drink stations (that I knew of) on the Dream were only in the pool area near Cabanas. I expected some on each deck. I brought a liter of Ginger Ale with me to use as a mixer and it was perfect for three nights of cocktails.

You can bring what fits in your carry on bag. We bring liquor and wine. I wrap them in bubble wrap plus pack pool clothes in my carry on. They don't say anything. It is cheaper to buy the wine you like and bring it to dinner than buy a bottle on the ship. They charge you and uncorking fee of $20. But usually it is still cheaper than what they charge.

Im hopefully going to be a 1st time DCL cruiser one of these days and my question is what about alcohol you buy on shore (i.e. Nassau) What are the restictions on that. I cruised Carnival a million years ago before they started scanning all carry on items and we used to sneak booze on all the time. Just wondering what the policy is for DCL? Thanks !

Can I throw another alcohol related question into this thread? (I didn't want to have to start a new one!)

What juice is available on board? Is it free or will we pay from the cafe or room service? I want to bring Malibu to mix in pineapple juice so if I should buy it beforehand, then I will!

Pop/Soda and water are at the drink stations, are any juices there? TIA :cool1:

No pineapple juice at the self-serve stations. Room service will cost you a tip but they'll deliver anything you can get in the restaurants.

Except sodas. You will be delivered a can and there's a charge for it.

Unlike most other cruiselines, you may bring back onboard from the port stops any alcoholic beverages you wish. To be consumed in your room. No need to "sneak" it onboard.

Our last cruise we bought Kalik beer in Nassau and brought it back on board, as well as Key Lime wine from the Key West Winery.

How many brought alcohol onto the boat upon boarding at port canaveral? How much were you allowed and do they still allow the soft side coolers?

On DCL you may bring onboard the ship whatever types of beverages you wish. You may bring onboard as much as you wish. It just has to be in your carryon bags, not checked. So, it's pretty much as much as you can wrangle until your room is ready.

The only coolers allowed to be brought onboard are small (12X12X12) ones required for medications or special dietary needs.

Thank you :-)

Can someone clarify the corking fee for us?
This will be our first dis cruise..so please forgive the newbie question.

We will be traveling with a large group...some are drinkers...others are not

If you were to byo wine to dinner and pay the corking fee...can you share that bottle with your group?

Also if you were to buy Disney's bottle of wine with dinner packages
Can you share wine amongst your group?
Or, does each person needs to pay the package price.

Thanks

With both of your examples you can share, no problem. With the package you are buying the bottles so anyone over legal drinking age is welcome to partake.

Yes, you can just tell the wine server who's glasses should be filled. With either your own brought onboard wine, or a bottle of wine you purchase in the dining room.
