Another bringing alcohol onboard ?

Will they deliver brewed tea?? I wanted it so bad, not just at dinner. The sodas fountain tea is nasty. I tried brewing my own at the stations but it didn't get dark enough. I was jonesing the whole trip!

Yes, you can order tea from room service. You will get a carafe of hot water and tea bags.

If you bring your own bottle of wine onboard, you can request a corkscrew and glasses from room service (or possibly from your room steward), so you don't need to bring your own.

Do it all the time, :thumbsup2:cool1:

Yes you can get one from room service but they are the cheepy pull up ones ( no leverage). You may want to bring your own.

Can someone tell me about the beverage packages? We will carry on too. Vacation and cocktails go hand and hand.

We are using the Disney luggage service. If you are flying in an airplane the morning of your cruise, you cannot bring bottles of alcohol in your carry on. Then you don't ever see your luggage to transfer to your carry on. Will alcohol be confiscated from your checked bags? :confused3

The honest answer is possibly. Some have reported having boozed confiscated out of checked luggage and some have said they did not but I think it is hit or miss. If you are very worried about this maybe hold off buying the booze until you get to your first port and purchase there.

It really is not DCL's "problem" that you won't be able to switch the booze from your checked bag to your carry on bag before boarding. DCL certainly has the right to confiscate it from checked luggage as their policy is to have it in your carryon

If it is found, yes it could be. If it is not found, breaks and damages other guests' belongings...you will be responsible for those damages.

What you will need to do is claim the bag with the alcohol yourself. Then remove the alcohol and put it in a carry on. Then take the bag you claimed to the check in location and they will take it from there.

Yes, hadn't thought of that. OP don't put your DCL luggage tags on your bag before the flight. After the flight claim your bag and do the switch and then bring the bag to the bus area as mentioned above. Yes, it negates the seamless convenience of having DCL take care of your bags but that is what has to be done if you want booze in your checked bag for the flight.

So, I'm flying from California to NY to Venice for the Mediterranean cruise. I think schlepping a bunch of alcohol halfway around the earth may be inconvenient (and heavy!). However, I would like to save some money bringing alcohol or buying the wine package. What experience do you have with the package? Any other suggestions? Vodka in a water bottle in the luggage?

We didn't want to bring alcohol from Florida to Barcelona either lol...so after we got there we found a liquor store close to our hotel on Las Ramblas and the next morning carried it on no problem :D We did the same thing in Vancouver for our Alaskan cruise but we always arrive a day early so we have time to do that - not sure if you are but thought I'd throw my two cents in lol Oh and another cool thing in Barcelona we asked the shop keeper what were the best wines of the region and he gave us some great tips! Then in every port we would purchase from that area and bring that on board - it was nice having different wines and liquor that were from the places we traveled to.

you can also purchase alcohol duty free on an international flight and they will give it to you when you get off the plane.

Oooo good tip! Does New York to San Juan qualify for international? Just confusing to me since PR is a US territory.

Awesome! This may be the way to go.

I'd still like more info on the wine packages if anyone has done that.

Thanks everyone!!!

Very good points from eveyone here with respect to leaving your alcohol in your checked luggage.

Here is our experience:
After taking 11 DCL cruises and taking alcohol with us on eight of those cruises, we have never had the bottle of rum removed/confiscated from our checked luggage despite being aware that DCL's policy is to take in your carry on.

However, we take precautions when placing it in our checked luggage.

I empty the glass bottle of rum into a plastic drinks bottle with a very tight seal. I then also seal the rim with tape or similar and then place the bottle in a gallon feezer bag. That way, if any leaks, it does not damage our clothes or leaks out onto someone else's luggage.
In fact, I also write in big, bold letters "rum" on the side of the bottle so that the contents are clear.
We have had plastic swords (pirate night), plastic pistols (pirate night), corkscrews and pocket knife (tool) removed from our lugggage by Disney, but they have never removed our alcohol. This was at Port Canaveral, Galveston and Vancouver.
Like I said, that is our experience in the last ten years and we will be doing it again in January and on the Transatlantic next year. As always, we will take the same precautions.
Don't want to lose any of that valuable rum!

Hope this helps.

First cruise. What do people do for beer? Do they bring onboard bottles or cans? What happens if you leave your stateroom? Do you need to put it into a container?

I have also read they DCL will confiscate it from your checked luggage because sometimes underage teens try to sneak it on.

You can also buy when in port and drink it on the ship. To my knowledge there is no problem with getting off the ship with open/partial bottles. Then for those driving just make sure to put it in the very back of your car or trunk (if you have one). If I'm wrong maybe someone will chime in and let us know.

Cans or bottles are allowed, your preference. You must bring it in your carry-on, though, not in your checked luggage. This is to prevent damage to other passenger's belongs from broken/cracked/leaking liquids. DCL's policy requests that any alcohol you bring onboard be consumed in your stateroom or verandah and not brought into public spaces. The exception is a bottle of wine brought to the MDRs and a corkage fee will be charged.

Enjoy your cruise!
