DAY 10 – Monday

Well this’ll be a short report, coz we did nowt.

Rang Dave at 6…

“Err, Dave?
It’s Dave.”

“I’ve broke yer house”

He told uz where to find the trip switch – it was outside, behind the hedge and through the ‘garden’. I wouldn’t have been goin there at 11 last night with me torch!
I had to wake the kids to find the torch but they soon turned over and went back to sleep.
Light restored, me ‘n’ V read the boards and I did yesterder’s trippy notes.

By 9.30 the kids were still soundo. Well, we had had a late night last night, so we decided no hurry today, we’d let them sleep as long as they needed.

Today’s plan was to be Islands of Adventure then Boggy Creek Airboats for a night cruise. IoA wasn’t a problem as we’d probably only need half a day and Boggy Creek was tonight and near home anyway. I rang to book the airboat and they aren’t doin night tours at the moment – try their other boat near Kiss Old Town. They needed a minimum party of 6 and had no other bookins as yet. We could book, leave credit card details but they couldn’t guarantee a cruise unless someone else rang. We decided to leave it – a night in with beer was much more attractive.

I went to Albertsons to get groceries. Just the essentials –milk, cookies, crisps and beer.
We all love the mint cream Orios and I found chocolate and peanut butter Orios too – which are delish (if yer like peanut butter). For beer I got more Sam Adams and Ice House for a change of pace once in a while and some Speckled Hen coz it was there. And couldn’t resist a Homer Simpson bottle opener. $7.35, it says…..

“ Mmmmmm , B e e r……. glug, glug, glug, glug……wooohooo ! Yes, Yes YES!”

It’s very tasteful.

Got home and Gaz was up but announced Julie to be poorly. She’s had a heavy cold since the day before we left – which she will give to me!
Anyway, when our Julie’s not well, she sleeps. Gaz said she’d been coughin and splutterin in her sleep and was very wheezy. So I said she’d be better in her room, i.e. not givin me any more germs and I’d felt quite ill an’all yer know when I woke up, but didn’t like to make a fuss.
So what to do? It was really hot outside and likely to be one of them days V would prefer to sit and do nowt rather than traipse around, and the bairn was poorly and I could have a drink!
This Villa lark’s all well and good, but V won’t drive over here. (She can barely manage to get from A to B at home!) So I’m limited to one beer a day – early on so it dissipates before we go home – then the odd three or four when we get home. Have yer noticed how early we are comin home on this holider? And why do yer think the trippy notes are sooo possessed with me meager beer intake.

“ Mmmmmm , B e e r……. glug, glug, glug, glug……wooohooo ! Yes, Yes YES!”

We’ll stay home.

Not wantin to be a couch potato, and knowin V likes to see the neighbourhood , I suggested a brief stroll to stretch our legs, and take in the locality. There’s shops nearby and a Brits Pub. We could pop in the pub if she’d like that. It might be nice and a change of scenery. And she does like to see the locals and stuff. Can we, can we, can we?

We left Gaz a walkie talkie in case he needed us and we set off to the pub – I mean the shops.

10 minutes later we were there, but it didn’t open till Noon, so we went round the shops. 12:01 and we were in the Pub. A nice pint of Boddies for me and a Pina Colada Breezer for V. Very nice thank you.
I was gonna get another while V finished her Breezer but she’d gulped it down. She thought it was very nice and whereas a drink normally lasts her two of mine, she’d drunk it almost in one. V has no sense of strength and thought it was lovely but mild. I’d tasted it and knew if she had another in this heat I’d have had to send for the Boy to carry her home, so we went while she could make it on her own.

Back home, Julie was up and treatin her cold with local remedies – Lays (sour cream flavour) goldfish and cheesypuffs. She was feelin a bit better, then?
She was over the moon with our new bottle opener and I relaxed in me chair, happy in the knowledge I’d never have to get meself a beer out of the fridge again.

“Who wants to get Dad a beer?’

“ Mmmmmm , B e e r……. glug, glug, glug, glug……wooohooo ! Yes, Yes YES!”

Ahh! Perfect.

The kids went swimming and me ‘n’ V sat flickin at the telly. We were gonna sit round the pool but there’s no beer allowed. We were gonna sit on the patio and watch from there, but it was in shade. We were gonna sit out front where the sun was, but couldn’t be bothered to get off the couch.
The kids came in after a while – just in time really…

“ Mmmmmm , B e e r……. glug, glug, glug, glug……wooohooo ! Yes, Yes YES!”

V watched Short Circuit while I had forty winks – 10 at the beginnin , 20 in the middle and another 10 at the end. Our Gaz had gone to lie on his bed and ended up asleep all afty.

By 4 o clock we were bored and I was feelin guilty about wastin me holider but I’d had three bottles and the Boddies by then, so drivin was out. Julie was happy watchin TV and playin her CDs so me ‘n V went on the boards and had another beer.
After a while V went back to the telly and I went onto Sunderland’s site to see what the team news was for Saturder.

“Wilkinson and Cotterell sacked!”

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but I’m more bothered about missin the Bolton game on Satdy now – we might just have a chance now. Well, I had been drinkin and it WAS hot.
I read all the sports pages and fanrooms I could find, lookin for info and rumour for who the next Manager might be.
John Gregory?
Oh whoop-e-doo.

The Boy got up just after I logged off. I told him the news and after a couple of minutes he asked if he could use the Internet and he sat and did exactly the same as me.
These is tough times for us Sunderland supporters.

We’d decided to get a Chinese Take-away delivered as part of our ‘at home’ day and our J was itchin to get it – terminal illness doesn’t get her down.
She’s a fanatic of all US sitcoms – well, Friends and all the kids ones. Ever since we told her we were stayin at FatTowers, she’s wanted a take-away so she can get one of them little cartons they all eat from. She even ordered noodles just in case that’s all they use the cartons for.
We ordered half portions – got stuck like that at Jungle Jims once– and were stuffed. It was very nice thank yer ; all came in little cartons, so the bairn was delighted.

Watched ‘Disclosure’ (Demi Moore and Michael Douglas) with more …

“ Mmmmmm , B e e r……. glug, glug, glug, glug……wooohooo ! Yes, Yes YES!”

and went to bed.

Sorry this has been borin. I’ll take them out today to make sure I’ve got summat to write about.

Oh and me cold? Seems to be gettin better, though I’m still a bit chesty and me nose’s blocked a bit and I’m a bit sinusey.

But I don’t like to complain.

Julie’s Bit at the end

I woke up during the night at 02:00, 02:10, 03:45, 04:30, 06:00, 08:00 and finally decided to get up at 11:00

I was very tired and full of cold and had a bad head so I was really relieved when Gaz told me we were spending the day in the villa. Mam and dad were out at the pub so I decided to sit in front of the telly and stuff my face with crisps and Oreos.

Mam and dad got back and showed me the new bottle opener, which I loved. For the rest of the holiday dad would shout “who wants to get me a beer” and gaz and me had race to the kitchen to try and grab the bottle opener. I was starting to feel better and getting and bit bored so gaz and me went in the pool.

As dad says I watch loads of American programmes such as Friends, Buffy the Vampire slayer, Fresh Prince of Bel Air ect, and have noticed that every time someone orders a take away it nearly always comes in little white boxes. Since ’99 I have wanted a Chinese to see if it came in the white boxes.
Well we ordered a Chinese and realized that whenever some one got white boxes on TV they always had noodles, so I ordered chicken chow mein just incase.
Mam started to panic about how much you are supposed to give the delivery guy.

When it came I was over the moon to get it in a little box. I ran for my camera and began taking pictures. I was even more amazed by the fact you got fortune cookies.

The food was delicious. I had one more race with gaz to see who was going to open dad’s beer before we all went to bed

What a great end to a great day!

Dave, you do realise that by the year 2500 your Homer Simpson bottle opener will be a valuable antique.
Keep hold of it for your great, great, great, great, great, great grandchildren.

“ Mmmmmm , B e e r……. glug, glug, glug, glug……wooohooo ! Yes, Yes YES!”

Love it!

Congratulations on the sneakiest ploy I have ever come across to make Gaz and Julie fetch your beer.
And can I borrow it?

Kev

Kev, it's already got a Guest Invitation ter Shields. Bottled Beers will be the highlight of the weekend, it's got to be heard to be believed.

It's so tacky it's Brill!!!!

Top Report, Dave!!!

I laughed out loud half a dozen times!! It's like The Osbournes without the rude words. The sooner a TV company decides to do a documentary on "The Robinsons in Florida " the better for all of us.

.................Great reading, an absolute rib-tickler of a report.

Your anxious adoring public await the next instalment.......just don't do a JK Rowling and keep us waiting for too long, mate. It's Easter so you've got loads of spare time between giving the Homer bottle opener an airing every so often!!

You see, even on your days when don't do anything you have stacks to write about - another great read Dave! :)

Love that bottle opener - looking forward to meeting it in Shields!

I whole heartedly agree with everything Mike says.

Oh, just in case the TV company does make your show, can you send me yer autograph now:cool:

Get a move on with the rest of the trippies.

Boring? In the SD household? I don't think so.

Now, Matt's been reading along with me and he got quite excited about yesterday's karting, but that was nothing compared with the Homer bottle opener. "I gotta get me one of those!" (Like he needs an excuse to drink more beer  ). I can see a new catch phrase coming on ...

“ Mmmmmm , B e e r……. glug, glug, glug, glug……wooohooo ! Yes, Yes YES!”

In fact, it all sounds strangely familiar ...

I love trip reports - keep them coming!!!!!

Thanks for the fab report - luv reading them!!!
