Another Bird Hits the Window.

A cute little chickadee flew into my window and doesn't appear to be injured. He hops, moves his wings bilaterally when he hops, but clearly he is winded, breathing through his mouth. I brought him in the house where it is warm and he is in a ventilated shoe box. I think he will be okay without food for an hour or so, until he warms up and catches his breath. What do you think?

Oh man I hate that. I don't know why but birds seem to always fly into the window behind me while I'm working and it sounds like a brick hitting it. Most times they lay there and shake it off and then move on. Hopefully yours will be ok.

I was afraid to live him outside; dogs and cats.He is definitely prey in his current state.

Ugh....don't try and help wild animals please. It's called Survival of the Fittest and it's gotten us this far.

I use this as an excuse not to clean my big window. Those poor birds see the kiddie handprints and smudges and divert just in time.

Update! I opened the box to give him some Cheerios and he flew out, landing on my curtains. He flies just fine now. I caught him and took him outside. I put him down on the deck, so in case he tried to fly he wouldn't fall very far. He turned around, looked at me and flew off, up to a tree. Another one saved!

Well done! The little guys are more resilient than we think. He was just momentarily dazed, kind of like when you turn a bit too quickly and walk into a wall instead of a hallway. (Not that that's ever happened to me .....)
