Another AP question

So I am thinking about purchasing a AP but not really sure how the whole thing works. If I buy one now does the year of its benefits start from the day I activated or when it is purchased? Also I think this has been asked a few times before but if anyone who has a AP and has gotten the APH rates for March what kind of price are we looking at for RPH? I right now have RPH booked for March 7-12 at 251.00 per night but if I can get this rate to come down some with a AP I would go ahead and purchase one. So if anyone has any advice I sure could use it. I am very clueless when it comes to Universal since this will be our first trip to Universal.

not that i can help you with your questions but have wondered the same thing myself about buying the ap.

i only make one trip a year to universal and buy the specials on the universal online store. 5 day 2 park passes for $99.

i use the AAA for the discounts for the rooms and food/merch at the parks.

last month the AAA rate was the same as the ap rate for the hotels.

hopefully phamton can answer your question.
she is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to universal

I have wondered about the whole AP thing too. I'm inclined not to do it for one reason only. Getting the photo ID done. When we came down for HHN in 2004 we got the passes for the halloween thing and had to have photo IDs made and it was a huge line and a total pain. I mean the main reason I stay at the hardrock is so I dont have to wait in lines. I know you can sometimes get good deals, but it would have to really be worth it. I love my completely hassle-free orlando vacation :wave2:

I guess it all depends on what type of discount that is offered for the dates of our trip, March 12-17th. If the discount it considerablylower then our AAA rate then I probably will think really hard on buying a AP. But from what I am hearing the AP rates are harder to come by in the peak season. So I guess I will just have to wait and see.

i used to go down to universal at different times of the year.
for the last 4 though, i go in october, usually the second weekend of the month for hhn.
i am totally and completely hooked on hhn............

First of all Universal is great and you will love it and IMO staying on site with FOTL is the ONLY way to go.

As far as the Annual Pass goes....It starts from the date activated. I was almost positive about this but called to verify...Use the below number for questions about Annual Passes.

1-866-PASS-4-FUN, Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 6:00 pm EST or Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am - 6:00 pm EST. Use phone tree number 6 for general questions.

Not sure if you will do much better on rates since that is around spring break time, however, the Preferred Annual Pass does have some other perks to it. I bought a Preferred Annual Pass for myself and Power passes for the rest of the family (wife and two sons).

We got great on site hotel discounts with it. Staying for $129 per night Jan 29-February 1 2006. (was $119 last year February 15-18).

It also "forced" me to go back twice :teeth:

The Power passes do have some black out dates so check to be sure that is a good route for you to go. It worked well for us plus you get discounts at the eating places and on merchandise.

I used this board for a ton of info before we left and don't be afraid to keep asking questions. I have only been to Universal once but feel like a bit of an expert especially with all the knowledge from this board.

Have fun!
