So we are useing a Debt card this sunday at the WDW car rental place,my question is do they charge the full amount when you pick up the car or after you drop it off and or do they run a deposit??. So excited only three days untill we fly out!!:banana:

You should probably check out the fine print at the Alamo website. This is from my confirmation email from Budget:

"We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to request a debit card authorization hold in excess of the estimated rental charges. Generally, we require a debit card authorization hold of estimated rental charges plus $200 — unless you already paid toward your rental on budget.com, in which case the hold will be only $100. While this hold is in place, the funds will not be available for your use."

You might want to double check what Alamo's policy is.

So I did look on Alamo site and does not say they put a hold and or charge before or after, but it at the same time does not say they wont eather. I am one thse that like to know whats comeing then getting there and then i find out. Oh well i guess thats whatit looks like whats going to happen on sunday:cool1:

They will put a hold on your debit card for the amount of the rental, nothing more. Alamo has an online chat feature and you can ask a bunch of questions by going to the "contact us" area found at the bottom of the Alamo intro page.

I have used my debit card twice and they only charged me the total price with no deposit; however, you do need a return flight confirmation number to use the debit card.

so did they put a hold on your card for the price of the rental?

They will authorize the price of the rental to the debit card when you pick it up. This will make those funds unaccessible. Sometimes that hold falls off before the end of the rental, sometimes it doesn't. I would expect the price of the rental to be unavailable from the time you pick up the car.

Check your insurance coverage carefully if you are not picking up CDW from Alamo. Many credit cards provide CDW by using the credit card for the rental. If you use a debit card, you don't get this protection. If your own insurance won't provide coverage, you could end up in deep dodo if you have an accident.
