Another AKL room question - when can I ...

. . . request a specific location for our room? We are staying at AKL June 18-23.

Since there are 5 people in our room, we are staying in a deluxe room, but when do I make a specific request, (non-smoking room close to the lobby)? We are traveling with 3 young children and prefer a room closer to the elevator/lobby. This is our first trip to WDW.

Can someone please tell me when I can make this request - can I call now or should I wait until a few days before check-in? I'm assuming it would be too late to do this at check-in???

Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I tink you can call anytime and make requests. When I made my ressie for this summer, I requested bunk beds and he wrote it in the notes.

I would ask at check-in again to see if your request was fullfilled, if not and it is important, ask them if is possible to get what you want if you wait a while, they did that for us last year.

It used to be that you could fax room requests 3 days before your trip, but now, they won't accept the faxes so it is best to call now and get those requests on your reservation. With 5 people, you will be guarenteed the bunk beds and day bed, but the room location won't be a guarentee, just a request.

Golfgal is right; call and have your preference added to your reservation. A pool view room shouldn't have a long walk to the elevator but a Savannah room could have a longer walk.

Remember it's a request not a guarantee. Many families have the same request.

Another question. If we request a non-smoking room, will they honor this request? That is by far our most important request and know that we cannot stay in a smoking room (for medical reasons) - dh gets migranes from the smell. I'm hoping this is one request they will honor. Does anyone know?

They will honor that request if it is for medical reasons, you need to specify that on your request. Our kids have asthma and we made sure that was on our request.

Thanks for that info. I will indicate that the non-smoking request is for medical reasons. In addition to my dh's migranes, our dr has advised us to keep our twins away from smoke/etc. because of breathing issues, so this is why it is so important for that request to be honored.
