ANOTHER Adventure in Autism (4/15) A Taste of What's to Come...

Kathy, You know what makes your trip report stand out so much? It is so very real! :thumbsup2

It is HARD going to Disney... Especially with a kid on the spectrum, an Aunt with OCD, our own high expectations, moody kids and spouses, a stomach virus (I never wrote my trip report - but two of my kids had a horrible stomach virus during our trip :crazy2: )...

I'm glad you shared this with us, even though I'm sure it was hard to write, and hard to think about... :grouphug:

I look forward to the rest of the installments - even though I've been dreading the whole reservation/dining plan/AR's key card issues!

:wave2:

Hi Kathy :wave2: I was so excited to see your TR back on the active board. I'm all caught up. Can't wait to read more.

 for that last installment. That must have been a horrible feeling.

BTW - Jim knows better than to bring up the PMS issue:rolleyes:

Oh Kathy... I don't even know what to say about that last post! :sad2:

I guess the only thing I can think of is that you should make sure Ed doesn't read that one... you'll never get that ticker. Unless the ending melts his heart the way it did mine. Our kiddos have a way of doing that!

Now I am going to go review my OP and build in some more resort time. :rolleyes1

Oh Kathy, I am crying as I write this. :sad1: What a gift God gave you in that child! He is so precocious.:grouphug: Sorry you had such a bad day. It seems that sometimes vacations can be more work than a vacation. Trying to please everyone is impossible. I am the one who plans all of our trips also. It sometimes is a thankless job. I hope the rest of the trip is a lot better after all of that! I am on pins and needles waiting to hear what happened next.;)

Kathy, thank you so much for posting your wonderful trip report! It couldn't have come at a better time--for me, at least. We have been stuck in the ice without power for six days (but with a generator for the essentials, like furnace, refrigerator, and, of course, computers lol), and what a welcome respite it has been to spend a few days at WDW by way of your report.

Today was a tough day as everyone's nerves are fraying, two of us have come down with viruses, including DD who is chronically ill, and it took hours to get DD's prescription because of an insurance snafu. As the sun was setting here--which means no chance of power tonight since we've already been told it's too dangerous for them to work on our outage after dark--I read your latest entry. When I got to the sweet ending, I cried. What a wonderful boy you have. Thanks again for sharing your story.

:grouphug: :grouphug: Egads. You poor things (everyone!)
In AR's defense, Mordie(soon to be 13) carries his old KTTW cards with him. :rotfl2:

awww... i dont even know your son and i think he's great... and your daughter seem great too. i know a little how she feels cause i alway shared with my grandma at disney, also known as a neat freak... i certainly miss her alot now that she's gone but when she yelled at me over mess and rearranged my stuff it made me cranky. i hope the rest of your trip was filled with pixie dust

Things are always brighter in the morning...

*****************************************
Hey, everybody! :wave2:

Well, before you all decide to get together to tar and feather my husband, I want you to know that he was right about the PMS thing. (I guess he realized that I wasn't acting like *ahem* my usual sweet self!!)

I'm not discounting the very real drama we had that night. It's just that, well, let's just say that the estrogen was in no short supply! ...And you know how well testosterone and estrogen like to butt heads! :rotfl: You will see that everything gets much better from here on out....

I actually have a confession to make: I could have had a Disneymoon, but I turned it down!!

Yes, Ed had very much wanted to take me to WDW for our honeymoon.:bride: :groom: I had never had the chance to go to WDW as a child, so I was absolutely clueless. Ed kept telling me how much he "knew" that I would love it, but I had a very good reason for not wanting to have a Disneymoon: Ed and his ex had honeymooned there!

And so, even though I very much wanted to go to WDW, I did not want to do a repeat performance, so to speak. "We'll save it for when we have children, and then we'll experience it as a family," I decided. And, we did!

Ed was right...I did fall in love with WDW (as have all of you!) He really does love it, too, even though he usually comes out looking like Mr. GrumpyGills in all my reports!

I think our only problem is that we like to "do" WDW in much different ways, and I am learning to blend the two with each passing visit to the World. When and if I ever get to writing a TR about our April '08 trip, you will see that there was a really big difference in our stress level.

This last post was all about what was perhaps the very lowest point we'd ever reached when at WDW... and I hope you will agree that it is the exception that proves the rule.

I had spent an enormous amount of time planning for and anticipating this November trip; perhaps a little too much time. Our annual WDW trip is now our one and only family vacation (that we scrimp and save for) each year. It has become such an important part of our lives. But, it's not good to place all of your emotional "eggs" in one basket, so to speak. As I discovered, it can be a recipe for trouble.

I think I'll make ::MickeyMo waffles instead.

Kathy

I can see why you turned down the Disneymoon, I probably would have too :rotfl:. I am so happy though that you decided to start going to WDW, Bill and I were honored to meet you and your family :grouphug:.

Hope the next installment brings better memories. Disney is wonderful, but it does bring intense pressure for the planner.

What are the dates please?? Bill is telling me to find out, find out!! Can you tell he is trying to stalk you? ;)

FYI, I tried your TR link in your siggy and it isn't working.

Thanks, Tracy! I didn't catch that. (When Marissa moved my thread back to the active board, it got a new number.)

Haven't bought the plane tickets yet, but we are definitely doing either: 10/30-11/6 or 10/31-11/7. (Hoping to procure tickets for MNSSHP for Halloween Night! :hmghost:

Kathy

No Way! Our trips might just overlap!

We got a code, so we're doing the last week in October - but probably the MNSSHP a week before Halloween... I've wanted to do MNSSHP since I learned about it (what, two years ago? LOL) - and DH is on board!

Now to save for it! :thumbsup2

Congrats on your ticker!

:cool1:
