Annual Passholders

Hey everyone, my wife and I will be purchasing our annual passes here shortly (likely first week of April). I do have a couple of questions though regarding the MagicBands.

First off we are planning on purchasing on passes at the ticket and transportation center rather than on the Disney website. I know on the website it states that it takes up 10 days for the bands to arrive. I also saw on the Disney store that the bands are sold at the park. So in short of we buy our passes at the park could also get the bands and have them activated that same day?

My second question consist of the functionality of the band. I know that it's ever evolving new features coming out soon. I know that resort guest can you the band to charge items to there rooms while on vacation. With annual Passholders are we able to link a credit card to it and use similarly?

If desired, you can purchase MagicBands at WDW and have them linked to your MDE account at the time of purchase.

Your passholder bands definitely won't come until a couple of weeks after you activate your passes, at least that has been our experience. We always have resort bands though so we use those in the meantime. You could definitely buy bands if you chose to use in the meantime.

Unless you have a Disney resort to send the charges back to, you won't be able to have the charging privileges on the band.

Unless it's changed recently, the AP band can only be ordered after you've activated your AP's (so once you get home, pretty much unless you do it on a laptop/phone while at WDW and have your bands waiting for you at home when you return from your vacation). You can purchase bands in the parks, but you would do just that, purchase them.

The bands for an AP would only be for convenience. You wouldn't have to get a card out for photos/FP's. The only benefit that comes to me off the top of my head with having a magic band is to get the automatic ride photos and videos on your Photopass account, assuming you're getting an AP with that benefit.

Also, be aware you'll have to have your AP card and your ID if using your AP for discounts.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but if you already have bands from another trip, those will be attached to your APs.

And you can use those bands for your automatic ride photos and videos.

For example, I have bands from my last trip. I am taking another trip in November and will get bands for that trip. On that trip I will activate my APs. Both of my previous bands will link to my "My Disney Experience" and I can use them to enter parks with my AP and get photes. When I return home, I can receive another band, and use it, as well as all of my previous bands, for my next trip.
