Annual Passholders - get ready for Magic Bands

I posted this on another thread but I called and was told that AP holders without resort stays are only going to be able to book 30 days out (maximum of 7 days in a row) not the 60 days out that you can book if you're staying onsite.

I know many will disagree, but this makes sense to me. The AP holders with resort reservations still get the 60 day window for those like me that come a far distance and tend to plan further out. The more local guests who typically don't stay at the resorts get a 30 day window because they are more likely to come over more "last minute" but they still get some early booking priveleges. From everything I have seen, it seems like except for extremely peek periods, 30 vs 60 shouldn't be a huge issue.

The only people that would really be complaining are the AP holders from a distance that stay off site. While I see the point (I stay offsite occassionally too) it still seems to make sense to me that resort guests would get a small advantage. I get that.

No matter what they do, someone will have a problem with it so I think they are just playing the numbers. I hope this works out for most people :thumbsup2

I hate to nitpick, but why should I, who paid $600 for my ticket, get a smaller reservation window than someone who stays 2 nights at the All-Stars and buys a 2-day ticket. Doesn't make sense to me, but then again nothing at Disney seems to make sense anymore.

Because they only have 2 days... you have 365 days. Divide that on a price/day and you have a MUCH better deal on your AP. They ARE paying more money (on a per-day basis) than you.

But they've leveled the playing field! By making us vs them $$$$tiers. :confused3

So my window as a premium Passholder is the same as anyone else staying off property? I wish they would give us some advantage, even 35 days instead of 30, as AP holders.

I just checked and I am only able to book fast pass through April 15.

I'm ok with this for the most part. It bothers me a little, though, because we are not local so can't use our ticket 365 days a year.

As long as the window for off site guests stays 30 days ahead and not 60 (when they let them pre book) I won't complain.

So offsite guests with day tickets are able to book fp+ 30 days in advance? I do feel AP holders should have some sort of advantage. :/

I thought 'regular' (non-AP) offsite guests still were booking day of (after they entered a park) - has this changed?

I noticed the AP change this morning - it looked like I could book through April 11th but someone else mentioned April 15th... that's more than 30 days isn't it?

While we always stay onsite (so take this with a grain of salt) - I do think 30 days is plenty for AP holders as long as they/ we still have an advantage over other offsite guests (OK I know I shouldn't say that but I do feel like AP holders should have an advantage ). When we were down there in January - all legacy FP was gone by our 2nd day and I had no trouble booking headliners for the next day (you know changing plans). I do know January is a slow time and I wouldn't be on that being the case during Spring Break/ Easter / Christmas etc.

I also thought that offsite guests still could only book day of FP+ at this time.

Whoops, I may have read something wrong! I was reading something about offsite FP+ and assumed it wasn't AP. I should know what happens when you assume...sorry, all, I'm blaming my "I have a new baby who won't sleep" brain.

No worries, I've been there!!! :D

Glad to see AP's get a slider for the band and cards but I still wish that data would be pulled from the Disney servers durning checkout to get the AP discounts.

My daughter and I made a quick last minute trip last week. We have a longer trip planned for this summer. On our last night there (Saturday) we stopped at guest services in The Magic Kingdom to ask a few questions. Most important was, can we make Fast Past + for more than seven days in a row as our summer trip will be longer. The CM who helped us assured us we would be able to make FP+ for the length of our stay even tho we will be off-property on that trip. I asked if she was sure. She went in the back to check and came back with the same answer.

I know many incorrect information is being put out but my fingers are crossed that she was right.

She was wrong. Sorry. Ap holders get length of stay advance fp only when on site not off site.

Afraid she was incorrect. We are annual passholders who will be staying offsite March 21-31st. I was able to customize our bands this past weekend, but was unable to book FP+ until yesterday. We are there for 11 days but the system would only allow my to book FP+ for the first seven days. I wasn't aware of the limit and thought I was just having some technical problem, so called. The CM said AP holders staying offsite will only be able to book for seven days at a time. Once we are on the trip and use up the first day's FP+, then I'll be able to go back online and book FP+ for our eight day, then on the next day after we use up our second day's FP+ I'll be able to go online again and book FP+ for our ninth days and so on. I currently have FP+ booked for march 21-27th, but when I click on the 28th a screen pops up saying we have met our fastpass limit. It then has a comment that if I want to book FP+ for the 28th, I can cancel one of the days I currently have FPs booked for.

Well, doesn't that just stink! I love Disney but it really seems unfair. I wonder if booking a one night room on the eighth night would "reset" our passes?

No, it is a rolling 7 ay limit or length of stay, whichever is longer. So booking 8 nights on site will get you 8/9 days but booking 1 night will leave you at the 7 days. I'd just put your must do's in the first 7 days and decide what you want to repeat as the windows reopen.

I know it seems "unfair", but how would the Disney computer system know how many days someone is staying off-site? They don't have that information, so to the computer system can't calculate how many days of FP+'s that someone staying off-site should be entitled to, to make it equally as "fair" to those people who are staying on-site.

If I pay for an annual pass for each member of my party then we should have the same privileges on each day of the year. What we get for our money has nothing to do with what other people get. That's like saying my salary should be X dollars because Mary on the fourth floor makes X dollars. We are already losing Fast Passes with this change- we always had more than three a day.

Reluctantly, Disney is pushing our family out the door. We already have APs at Universal and Seaworld, May be the best thing to add Bush Gardens and give Disney a good long rest. We spend way too much money there anyway. Just returned Sunday from a last minute week long on property stay and we were not at all impressed with FP+. Standby lines were bad, FP wasn't a lot better.

Not arguing, :rolleyes2 just trying to explain why people staying off-site with AP's can only get 7 days at a time. People don't seem to understand why Disney can't recognize their off-site stays.

I'm am an AP too, and I can understand why they can't just let AP's book FP+'s for as many days as they want. If they did, you would soon see that system go the same as the ADR's, people just making FP's "just in case" they decide to go.
