Annual passholders Dining plan with room only ressie

Although I'm thinking they will only allow it with rooms at rack rate. Disney has never allowed "double dipping", and they consider the DP a discount already (from what I've read in the past). If they do allow the AP discount in conjunction, then woo hoo, I'm in!

This hasn't been true for awhile. Disney is offering room discounts AND the DDP on other packages. My most recent vacation was a package that included a room discount, free hoppers and water parks and the DDP. I have a bounceback vacation booked currently for late Sept. that has a 30% discount on the room portion and deluxe dining plan.

In any event, I am so very excited about this. I might be able to squeeze in another last minute trip in with this AP.

This has been true from the beginning.

I used a discount room rate with the dinning plan when it first came out in 2005.

All of CROs general public room discount codes had a matching code that could be used to add on dining.

I called this morning and asked about this. My 4yo son won't eat enough to be on a plan. They told me to leave him off the reservation, then add him on when we get there and he won't be charged for the plan.

OT, I have to say wow! My granddaughter is only 2 and she has no problem consumig the kids TS meals at WDW. The meals are so tiny that I can't believe they are enough for an older child. Since the kids DDP is on 10.99, it is a steal. For this price the child gets a TS meal w/drink, a counter service meal w/drink and a snack a day. I would reconsider if I were you. Not sure how often you go to WDW but the meals for kids have changed alot. We go down for 4 trips a year and take the grand kids with us often. I have to assume you don't plan to go to any buffets? If you take your 4 yo to a buffet, you will have to pay for them as the buffets don't care whether they eat like a buffalo or a bird, there is no sharing at buffets, so you would have to pay OOP which is MORE than the daily child's DDP.

i am booked under the bounceback 30 percent off for august. can i add the dining plan now as i am also a season pass holder?

Booked today for the AP discount on May 9th thru the 11 and I was able to book the DDP.

Is it just the regular DDP that can be added on or can the deluxe DDP be added to the room only ressie with the AP?

Wow, this is great if it applies to the DxDDP!!

I'm a bit confused about this as people have emntioned the EMH etc... How exactly is this done??? I'm concerned about my 10 yr old...Right now, he is having serious eating issues- almost to the point of being Dx anorexic.. The DDP or eveb DxDDP would work for the rest of us but he will barely even eat a child meal.... His diet right now mainly consists of Carnation Instant breakfast and baked beans. He will eat chicken nuggets but that's about it...

Maybe in the World he will want to eat. What dos the dr. say?

In order to get an EMH arm band(PM only) each person in your party needs to show your room card. Sometimes the cards are scanned. If your son doesn't have a room key, he won't be able to take advantage of EMH.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but, oh well.

Passholders have only been able to book the plan for 2 or 3 days and already we have posters looking for ways to make it fit for them.

None of the plans work for all families. If it doesn't work for you then, skip it.:confused3

How long do you think this AP perk will be around if people start paying for a few people in their party then adding the rest at check in??

Once the word gets out that this works for AP holders, everyone else will start to do it.

What if the check in CM or manger decides to:

A. Have you pay for the extra person's dining plan when you check in.
B. Delete the dining plan all together when the numbers change.

If the dining plan doesn’t work for you, why not just stick with the DDE?

I actually think this was a very smart move on Disney's part even if a few people do have to tweak it to make it work. It guarantees that you will take your family to THEIR restaurants everyday. They will make an immense amount of money. As Florida residents we normally bring most of our food with us. By offering us this plan they convinced us to spend $1400 on meals. I really don't think they will mind at all that we didn't buy the plan for our 4yo autistic son. As a matter of fact, it was the CM who suggested not put him on the reservation when I balked at buying him a plan when I know he won't eat.

No flaming, just offering another point of view :flower3:

Doubt it- doesnt seem to make a big difference of where we eat- we were there for a few days last summer and didnt make a big difference EXCEPT for the day we went to Sci-fi ( I was amazed he ate 2 children's meals and a milkshake) We are going back there for sure.

His mainstay is chocolate milk so he will drink milkshakes and we take advantage of that. I have heard how they will try and help at the restaurants for "special needs" but havent been able to get it applied yet.. We ate at Coral Reef last summer and when we realized that there were no chicken strips on menu- waiter didnt seem to care when I asked.. My other son and I ate- he just set there and then we found him some chicken strips later.

As for the Doctors, we are working on this.. The child is extremely stubborn and hard-willed , so we are trying really hard to get as much fat, protein and calories into him without making it such a big deal that we make it worse. Pretty much- if he will eat it, then that's what I serve him.. Since he will consume chocolate milk, his breakfast is now Carnation (2-4 packets per milk- he chooses how much). He will only accept a ham sandwich for lunch- that's what he gets with the lunch monitors gently urging him to eat and letting me know if he trashes everything. Also, he checks in with the nurse 2X a day for a Carnation.
We are hoping that we will get through this phase ( although been going on about a year) and puberty will hit and he will get "hungry." We are considering adding a med to his regimen that boosts appetite but trying to hold off.. He does have ADHHHHHHHHD as well but this is actually not linked to his meds.
I'm still trying to decided what to do on this trip in Dec to make it as stress-less for everyone.. The trip is in 2 portions- the first 4 days I have booked GF Concierge. I'm thinking that they can help me heat up baked beans or whatever if needed. Also, my 12 yr old has Asperger's so this will be an easy way to for us to eat some meals without worrying about the crowds etc. the second part of the trip I have rented a DVC villa at AKL. Again, I can do some meals/snacks there.. BUT, as everyone knows, the restaurants are a big part of the trip for some of the experiences and we would like to go to some of our favorites and maybe try a new one or two.
I havent bought an AP yet- the trip is still too far away..BUT, I think it may make sense just for the park admission. 10 days this trip and some for the following summer. If we get a discount on a room- that's a bonus!. I am trying to decided if we should just do DDE or do a dining package, and looking at all options . My 12 yr old's diet is kinda limited as well but I think I will be able to find him enough food. I am leaning towards just the DDE for overall simplicity since I can never tell how a day will be due to 12 yr old child. BUT, the trip is more complicated because my MIL is coming . Her lifestyle is rather rigid. She expects regular meals at regular hours. Also, she is an extreme tightwad. Because this would be vacation, honestly I would have no problem if either child just chose to have a milkshake while we were eating. She would have problems with it- she demands the kid's clean their plates. Or even if they ate a little, she would refuse them dessert if they hadn't cleaned their plates BUT if we were on the plan and a milkshake was included she wouldnt have a problem... I just don;t know what to do.
I'm sorry, I have started to ramble.....

no flames here:thumbsup2
once the rules start getting manipulated, the price & plan will change for everyone (as happened in the past with the DDP. as each loophole was found, it had to be closed, resulting in higher cost & less conveniece to all).
simply, DDP, DE, ME, certain pass types, etc are not a good fit for all, but there are other options ~ each needs to find the one that fits their family the best, without altering any to fit their needs :)

And I'm guessing every person on the ressie needs to have an AP in order to get the DDP added to the room ressie, correct?

So, which one does everyone think is better. DDP or DDE. Does it even pay to get the DDP if we get the discounts with the DDE. Im not sure of the AP DDP cost, I keep seeing $70 pp pd.

One other thing, someone earlier in this post said something that Dis lowered the AP room discount from $75 last year to $50 this year. I just booked my Ap stay at AKL, the regular rate was $275 and the AP discount is $165, thats $90 discount. Disney is making money on the DDP, for every meal that is missed, or paid for at a non participating restaurant that increases the profit for DIS.

I am so with you on this!! People are trying to tweak the system, plus all the complaints; just please don't complain everyone!!! The price is only $10.99 per day per child (A bargain!! Even for a child who may not try to get the most value out of the plan by eating the most expensive meals). And if folks continue down this road,
there will be unwanted changes soon. I love the DP, and I am thankful that Disney has decided to offer this AP "perk"- makes life easier for all of us who are frequent visitors to WDW and who have our APs. Disney got something right and some still want to take advantage, I just don't understand. :confused3

Sorry, but that won't work. It has to be added onto a room only with no discount or a room only booked with an AP discount, but no bounceback discounts can be combined with this one - I specifically asked a CM about that. I think the bounceback discount is greater than the AP rates that were released, so you are probably better off staying with that one this trip and try the DDP on your next trip.

We're DVC owners and AP holders. We've added the DDP to our upcoming trip. Does anyone know if we can get the AP discount on the DDP too?

Thanks!
