But it is about help getting comminations from Disney for the event. No?

It’s a watch for the preview. A lot of people following the post are waiting to see when it’s released and if someone will post the link. All the comments make some people nervous they may miss the link drop

All right, no need to debate what should/shouldn't be discussed, we'll fill up another 5 pages in doing so. 8-)

At the risk of sounding controlling, and I mean this respectfully, the moderators are best positioned to determine on/off topic and nudge things one way or the other depending on the context.

Not all posts or topics have to be responded to.

As fast as this thread builds pages, I cant keep up and work full time. So I check the last couple of pages to see if anything is there.
The moderators have said they'll post the link to the first page once it drops. That will be much easier than checking at the end of the thread when it's getting flooded with posts from those who either are thrilled or disappointed.

I would continue checking the end of the thread. The mods have other stuff to do too and we don’t know how long it will take them to post it in the OP. Plus, they may be signing themselves too.

There has been discussion whether or not an activated Annual Pass will be required to register for the event. According to the Passholder Extras page, tonight:
  • Advance registration is required. Eligible activated Annual Pass is required to register.

Was brought up a couple pages back
Pointed out elsewhere and since it hasn't been mentioned here that I've seen here. The below quote is the most recent version I found. It now says the ap has to be activated to register. Not sure if it's said that for previous previews and you could still reg with a cert but thought it should be posted.

Important Information
  • Advance registration is required. Eligible activated Annual Pass is required to register.
  • Platinum, Platinum Plus and Premier Passholders must register by making an online reservation for ONE event.
  • Valid Annual Pass and photo ID are required at check-in for each Passholder and Passholder Guest.
  • Reservations are limited and are subject to availability.
My thoughts on it are
It hasn't but they've not gone through this dog and pony show before. By that I mean announcing so far out that people called so much they had to make a second announcement. Officially if asked they have always said it had to be activated. Even though that was not the case.
What I'm saying is there was never an opportunity or mainly a reason for them to put it in print. So the lack of it in print for past events isn't telling of much.

I have an AP voucher which we’ll be activating when we get to WDW in a few weeks. However, when I’ve been an AP holder in the past we’ve never had any emails for anything. I’m just wondering if there’s something I need to do to opt into emails......

Ugh, they've just changed that wording yesterday. :( The second sentence wasn't there before. We've had vouchers for a while (I wanted to avoid whatever price hikes hit during the year, which I'm very glad I did!) but we won't be able to activate them until we get to the US on 9th August.

I'm in the same boat you are. I bought my AP a week before the crazy price hike( lucky me). But won't be in Florida until August 25th. But as it's been said before usually you have access to some of the perks of the AP before it's activated (such as discount on rooms or discount on hard ticket events). I guess we'll have to wait and see for this one.

As someone who has an unactivated annual pass...I still think it's time to drop this discussion. There's really no use in speculating about whether or not the pass will have to be active. They've said it before and had it not be true. Yes, it being on the website makes it look more official, but we STILL won't know for sure until whenever invites drop. Currently their systems don't seem to be able to differentiate between activated and non-activated (we've been told it must be activated to see hotel discounts, but that's not true either.) Just have to wait and see. I'm anxious about it too, but the question pops up every three pages or so and causes the same debate/responses each time.

I would direct you to what GADisneyDad14 said on this a few posts up.

As for me, I'm going to continue to watch for the drop. I'm not anxious about whether or not we'll be allowed to sign up but I highly suspect we will despite what the blurb says. If we can't, I've been forewarned so won't be surprised. I don't believe the system recognizes whether your AP is activated or not. I can't think of a single thing that I can't reserve in advance that has an AP discount that I cannot do with a voucher- discounts, reservations etc...can all be seen and done with a voucher. I see no reason why this would be any different.
