Annual Passholder Previews REGISTRATION LINK IN FIRST POST-EVENT FULLY BOOKED

I would guess we are 1-2 weeks away yet.
1) The wording on the passholder page says "details will be sent out later this summer" which indicates not any time soon.
2) 1-2 weeks from now would be about 30 days before the suspected preview dates. I can't imagine them announcing this any later than 30 days before the actual grand opening.. *shrug* .. but then again .. I don't think there goal is to accommodate Passholders, their goal is to just have a controller, limited soft opening for the cast members and operations staff before the big grand opening. So .. who knows .. maybe they will just give a week or two notice.

I agree. I don't think notice for travel plans is even in their list of things to consider when planning the dates. They didn't put out a notice that there would be previews to let folks plan.
I bet they'd been inundated with questions about "will there be a preview" and in hopes of quelling some phone calls, they made the announcement. No one dreamed this would lead to SOOOOOOO many further questions. Since whoever wrote it knew what they meant and assumed those who read it would to, or wouldn't care half as much as folks here do.
So that announcement led to even further questions they issued the 2nd announcement, hoping that too would answer folks questions and stop phone calls. But again, it's only led to more questions about what does "X mean" so again, they are looking to further expand, if they can. But a date for when it's coming is never going to be a part of it.
Just my 2 cents.

Here's my "a CM told me" story...lol My daughter called the AP line, not to ask about the preview, but to get an account issue straightened out. The CM voluntarily offered to check her communication preferences. He said that not only do the settings have to be right on the guest end, they have to be right on their end, so he made a couple of corrections for her, mentioning that she wanted to be sure and be set to receive that email on the AP SWGE preview. That opened the window for her to ask questions. :) She asked about having an non-activated AP and receiving the email, signng up for the event and attending the event. His answer was that the email system only sees that there is an AP on file so she should receive the email and that since she should get the email, she is eligible to sign up for the event. The AP has to be activated of course to go to the preview. 2) She mentioned she hoped that the email didn't get sent until she actually activated her AP on 7/21. He laughed and said " well, stranger things have happened" but she took it as he either knew or thought that the emails would go out before then. She did ask about the 1 guest issue and he said he wasn't sure what the confusion was for guests but it was crystal clear- 1 guest per AP holder and the guest must have an AP. At his suggestion, I called just now and updated my communication preferences with them as well.

Here's the proof that you don't take what you hear from a CM as gospel, but just a tidbit of information to add to what you already know. I specifically asked about the issue of does a person who does not have their own MDE account, but is listed on someone else's account, count as a guest. His answer was: Only if the guest being added does not have an AP. o_O While that is a frustrating, because we know you must have an AP, you could take from it that a person who does not have an MDE account, but is on your MDE account and has an AP does not count as a guest. #readingtealeaves

But for those of you who are not receiving emails, I suggest you not only check your preferences, but call and have them check as well.

When I called when I first set up my MDE(after being under my mom) they said not to check the preferences because that would automatically reset the clock to 30 days. My CM said ‘leave it alone!!’ And I did this on June 16th.

Well, I would certainly hopes it is before the 21st!

That doesn't solve the issues for Canadians not receiving the e-mails. I guess if it's person specific I'll have to call when the link drops.

Just dawned on me what the exact question needs to be
"What, in this case, defines a Guest?"
Guest is the generic and broad term, meaning ANYONE who visits Disney, which would then mean anyone outside of the recipient of the email, including members of the family
or
Guest as in a guest to your account, someone who is not normally a member of your family list, a linked account
Because he's right, it isn't confusing that each recipient of the email can invite 1 guest. The confusing part is what is a Guest in this specific case.

Besides that, technically, wouldn't anyone who qualifies for the AP already be getting the email (in theory at least) and as such, not need to be invited by another AP holder?

Also a good reference in the "a guest" uncertainty is that CM are also only allowed to take 1 guest. For previous previews they were allowed to take as many as their main entrance pass allowed them. Is Disney trying to limit the amount of Plantinum and up AP previews to open it up for other aps or DVC?

Entirely possible but they don't ever say Select Plantinum and up AP will receive emails, anywhere that I can recall. Select qualifying AP would allow them to pick and choose only some AP to get the email and give them an out if someone has the right AP but doesn't get the email. Communication preference issues notwithstanding. Intending only some AP to get the email and it only going out to some due to their errors in sign-ups are not the same thing.
The wording does sound like all Plantinum and up AP have a chance to sign up

Good questions. My guess is that the "invite a guest" thing is to help ensure you can go with your friend/family member AT THE SAME TIME. If my sister (with her separate MDE account) gets an e-mail, there is no guarantee we can sign up for the same time slot. I guess being able to invite a "guest" solves that.

But it definitely doesn't answer if "getting the e-mail" lets you sign up everyone directly associated with your account (not linked) to that MDE account. One would think it would as long as everyone meets the requirements of being a Platinum Passholder.

Niether CM we spoke to had this concern at all. lol I haven't been getting emails so we'll see if I get whatever is coming down the pike in the next days and weeks. And no, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this goes beyond the 21st. She'll be there on the 21st, but is going on a long cruise after that and then will go back to WDW after the cruise. The event will have to be very close to the rumored date of the 11th for her to be able to attend. They are both teachers and are skipping a day or two of orientation as it is- not much flex in their availability.

Same here. I asked them on the phone to check my preferences and they told me i had to do it on my own from the website but if i go on there it will reset and take up to 30 days to set again. How are you supposed to see if your preferences are correct if it resets each time you look? So strange.

Again, I'm pretty sure they are waiting for operations to receive the land from construction. Once they have it they know for sure it's opening on schedule

No doubt 100% this.

For SWGE in Disneyland someone posted on twitter updates from Orange County, CA building inspections. We were able to see when certain parts of SWGE passed inspection from the County.

Do we know if that can also be seen from Orange County, FL?

I think if we had those we would know more as to how far along they are.

@rteetz might know. All I know is that CM start training inside GE on the 17th

Pointed out elsewhere and since it hasn't been mentioned here that I've seen here. The below quote is the most recent version I found. It now says the ap has to be activated to register. I don't mind the chatter so much as the rudeness and snarkiness of some. And that's not just me that's the Dis guidelines. Also the off topic posting and false links. Again I want nothing more than leave this thread open but between the Mods there is talk of the need to lock it and that's why I'm trying to keep the chatter under control

I really hope it doesn't come to this! I don't get emails, so I'm relying on the thread to be updated as quickly as possible. I'm watching, but trying to chat as little as possible.

People - play nice!! haha
