We are in the same situation ...
Four family members and one my Disney account. Will each person be able to register separately even though we all share the same my Disney account (husband as the lead)

What happens to families with three children, will the children be able to register themselves ??? Usually I thought you had to be at least 18 to do any registrations

The answer I’m going with is, who knows? We are at the mercy of whatever process Disney comes up with. If I’m lucky enough to click the link in time to register, I will do what I can to register my whole family of 3. If it doesn’t work out, we’ll have to adjust. I just can’t imagine they will create a situation where, possibly, only two people in a family would be able to do this together, but who knows? If worst comes to worst for us, we’ll simply postpone everything and go see SWGE when the dust settles a little or when (if) they introduce paid events for easier access.

I know this has been asked before but my son turns 3 in November. My husband and I are pass holders. I assume there will be no where to sign my son up but we obviously are not leaving him behind. Just want to ensure he does not need a ticket

I mean, never say never, but I really can't imagine them not allowing your son in b/c he doesn't have a ticket when he can't have one attached due to be being under 3

I would assume they would just let you bring him in without having to register as I can't picture the system asking if you have any guests under 3 when you register

So when the reservation finally drops, what’s the protocol? Assuming it does get posted here in time for others to make reservations, I vote we go radio silent until the event is full. That way everyone looking for the link on this board won’t need to search through the pages to find it as it should be the most recent post. Anyone have any suggestions?

I doubt that will happen unless the thread is locked.

I wonder if what they are calling a Passholder "guest" is someone in your Friends and Family list that has their *own* MDE account, that is, you only need to add an AP guest from a separate MDE account. Because it doesn't make sense that you couldn't add all the Passholders that are solely in your account, like spouse and children. That would mess up everyone that has more than a party of 2. And with all the MDE problems, I'm not adding MDE accounts for the spouse and kids. That would be more stuff to break down. I think it's probably that if it's the MDE account of (for example) Ariel, Tiana, Eric and Flynn, then none of them are "guests" since it's their MDE and you will be able to add all of them.

Seems to me that it wouldn’t be a problem to bring him in. Does he require theme park admission? I’m also assuming he is under the 38” height requirement to ride Millennium Falcon, correct? Disney would be fine letting in under 3 children but they are also thinking that they won’t be taking a ‘ride spot’ from someone else.

That definitely won’t work! Take a look at the Pandora one- everyone would post how ‘I got in for xxxxx time’ or ‘who else got in for xxxxx date?’ We will all be too excited(or frustrated, depending on how this goes!) that we will want to post. The GroupMe will probably be the least talkative. Someone will post the link there and here, and people will just have to search. I’m sure the link will be posted at least once on every new page on this forum.

I don’t know if that’s workable, but there’s no harm in roosting the link as folks celebrate getting a reservation.

I'm the poster who brought up parking. I mentioned the requirement of showing an AP and photo ID in order to obtain complimentary parking and shopping discounts in order to suggest the near certainty Disney means it when they say AP and photo ID will be checked before entering SWGE. I suspect that's the case even if the computer doesn't validate your guests AP status when you make your reservation.

In a perfect world, that would be great, but it’s not going to happen. Once people get signed up they’ll want to post. This thread will be inundated with a great many posts. Hopefully the link will get reposted frequently, but without locking the thread, there’s no way to stop it.
My suggestion is to put time into watching this thread. Those who aren’t constantly on the lookout and who don't get the email probably aren’t getting in anyway.

Honest question, why does Disney have to do something for DVC members?

They don’t. Disney doesn’t have to do anything. The preview will suit their purpose (soft opening for testing and training) and isn’t a benefit, entitlement or anything else other than that. They create the perception that it’s a “perk” of being a Platinum and up pass holder but the reality is, a “perk” is something all holders of those passes would otherwise be entitled too. With it being limited in numbers and scope, this is a limited-eligibility first come, first served sign up opportunity, nothing more.......as they’ve advertised. The limited eligibility opportunity is for access to try for a preview slot, a slot that again, serves Disney’s purposes, not anyone else’s.

Disney doesn’t “owe” any of us a release of dates, times or anything else because again, this isn’t for us. Getting bent out of shape because of increased flights, hotels, etc. is none of their concern. The amount of Platinum and up pass holders they’ll “lose” over missing out on this preview will be a rounding error for them compared to the number of people that own one. Anyone who bought one for the chance to maybe get a slot missed the boat on what this is and what we’re sitting around waiting for a chance to do. Anyone who financially committed resources they didn’t comfortably have for this.......well it’s your money but sheesh.........

Disney never promised anyone anything regarding this..........

Same for DVC members. It’s states VERY clearly in pretty much everything you sign that all you’re buying with DVC is a timeshare. The rest of it isn’t guaranteed in any way, shape or form. The DVC extras they do is for marketing purposes only, and again, serves Disney purposes. They love the fact that it’s viewed as goodwill but that’s a farce. It’s marketing. They will likely do a DVC event at some point, as they always seem to do, because it’s good marketing. It won’t be however goodwill or done because Disney “owes” anyone anything.

In my responses at least, I am talking more going forward than for these previews. I think it's becoming clear this preview is limited for "test run" purposes which is why Disney wants limited number of people and to do that they opted for Plat members only.

I am talking once the land is open and operational there will be more events for AP holders, DVC members, most likely paid ticketed events, etc.... No Disney does not have to do any of those events but they will for sure to keep people happy.

Absolutely.
Happy people is the best marketing they can get. And happy people from a paid event, win-win

so if the other people in your party have the same AP how are they guests? a guest would mean that the "lead" has the advantage and can take "guests" that do not have the advantage. I know that the DVC events are for members and their guests that are on the same reservation but the guests do not have to be DVC members.

Disney calls all of us "Guests" just like they call all of their employees "Cast Members" .... it's a name of reference not a definition. In the DVC situation they refer to the DVC owner as "Member" so in that instance "Guest" would be a definition because that person isn't entering because of a ticket or hotel stay but because of a DVC Member.

No, not true. You do not pay to park if you are staying at a resort and drive to the theme park. Never have. And until recently, didn't pay to park at the resorts either.
And it would matter to others reading here which is why it is important to keep facts straight, in this instance.

:thumbsup2

We have all been wrong at one time or another for whatever reason (sometimes brain freezes) .... what I think is important and I try to adhere to is .... when someone corrects me I go to my original post with bad info and correct it. That way future readers won't see it and get worried. Perhaps that is why the corrections keep happening, because each reader comes across the original uncorrected post and responds.

Amen to that. Parking fees, the hot weather and the need to stay hydrated... all very interesting topics in their own right, but it would be really helpful if people could take note of the thread title first, as that's the whole point of having focused threads...

Andre

You've been around long enough to know how this goes. :) The only way to keep this direct responses to Post #1 would require the moderators to basically delete almost every post. And forums work like a website, clicks mean coins from advertisers.

We are a family of five so with TSL we could only book 4 .... at each level someone may have an issue. Disney might be doing a math equation of what percentage of guests they expect to come and try to keep a cap on it.

The way I read it, you can register yourself and one guest. Now it may just be poor wording, but that’s simply how I understood it. That, and everyone must be an AP holder.

Now if the links were email specific(which they most certainly will not be, but let me play devil’s advocate), then it would be wise to have each person have their own MDE. That way more email accounts= more emails. But if creating them under 30 days before the link drops, then it still wouldn’t make a difference because the likelihood of any emails being sent is very low. Even after 30 days it’s still considered a low probability. I’m just saying how it might be easier if you have more than one email account(MDE) to use for registering.

Thoughts on the "own MDE" situation. When DS decided he wanted his own MDE because he was going on his own he set it up. BUT Disney said we could not move his ticket over to a new account. Once assigned & used it had to stay in my account. We went round and round with them. When it came time to get a new ticket he then put it in his account. Pandora previews he was able to book himself and his brother and I as we were friends & family. I was able to book him along with brother and I for TSL event.

My point is, and IT may be better ;) if you set up another MDE you might not be able to move their ticket. So the question is .... can they register from that account if it holds no ticket? :confused3 IDK. Does the account need a lead ticket?

In my memory when booking the previous events we could choose from the names in our MDE account. I think it only highlighted the ones with APs. Like now I can see DS2 name but he no longer has an active AP. It will not allow me to click his name for FP+.

Amen. Preach it.

I emailed and called the Passholder hotline to get clarification around the single guest thing with families. Email stated the following (emphasis, mine):

“At this time the "How To Register" section for the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Preview does refer to registering a guest. We do not have additional information on the registration process. I would recommend keeping an eye out on the Annual Passholder Program page for further details.”

That was unhelpful so when I spoke to an AP CM this morning, he said his department has reached out for clarification as well in terms of the singular guest issue and they’re waiting for a response. They only know what we know, is the official line.

As a precaution I’ve set up a second MDE account for my wife who has zero interest in any of this stalking/registering nonsense.

I would suggest people have a similar contingency if this is important to you. Disney may change course, but as of right now, everyone’s understanding is that, as it reads, you can register only one other person.

I have had annual passes of one kind or another since 1999 and have never received an email from them. That said, where are all of you watching to hope to be early enough to register on the big day?

[/QUOTE]

For years, we have had one MDE account managed by me for our family of 3 (DH + DS8), all tickets linked through my account. Because it's unclear how many people we will be able to sign up for this preview, I created a second account for DH a few days ago, then 'shared' my MDE people profiles with his MDE and vice versa. Result was that he showed up twice in both MDEs. I called AP customer service; the agent fixed it in about 5 minutes, and the tickets are all linked accurately.

The down side is that I can no longer 'manage' his profile from mine; I will need to log into his MDE to link new tickets and Magic Bands, to order MB upgrades, etc. Only time will tell if this was more trouble than it was worth...
