It just means when you sign up you can sign up for yourself and one other person (who qualifies and is in your friends-and-family on MDE) rather than each of you having to sign up separately

If more than two people total you will have to do multiple signups
I interpreted it as I could make reservations for anyone with an AP linked in my account that I’m sharing all plans with. I hope so anyway. We are a family of 3 (DH, me and DS11) and we all have premier passes. DS11 doesn’t even have a MDE account. I’m hoping they aren’t going to make families only choose two people to go. When I signed up for the VIP pass holder event, I was able to register all of us.
They have worded past events similarly, if not the same. You could sign up more than 1 guest. No idea on the limit as I have at most 2 in addition to myself. Sometimes it's been just 1 plus me. I was always able to pick everyone on my MDE party. So at least 3 total counting myself

Honest question, why does Disney have to do something for DVC members?
Disney doesn't really have to. AP events may encourage AP purchases and renewals BUT I doubt an occassional special event will tip the scales on a DVC purchase costing tens of thousands of dollars. Disney already got the $$$ from DVC owners. Having a DVC event generates good will which might encourage members to talk up DVC. I doubt DVC events translates into $$$. It is a cheap way to generate goodwill.
The same reason they do something for AP holders. Both pay extra for more Disney. It is the least Disney can do for us Uber fans
Every AP holder has to decide, in less then a year if they want to renew their AP. DVC owners have already committed for life, OK a significant number of years. DVC events are almost exclusively for good will.
I got previews for four people for Pandora and I was the only annual pass holder. All others were my guests.
Disney has made it clear the SWGE event is only for holders of certain APs. Disney has made it clear APs and photo ID will be checked. Disney now asks to see your AP and photo ID for free parking, discounts etc. Having an AP linked to your magic band or app isn't sufficient.

Maybe the computer reservation system will let you "cheat" but I doubt they'll be admitted. YMMV.

so if the other people in your party have the same AP how are they guests? a guest would mean that the "lead" has the advantage and can take "guests" that do not have the advantage. I know that the DVC events are for members and their guests that are on the same reservation but the guests do not have to be DVC members.
No idea why they call it that other than a way to say you all get the same time slot

Nice. You got something different. I was only to sign up others with the AP from my friend and family list

I actually asked about that once while parking. I was told by a CM at the booth that if you are staying at the resort, they don’t ask to see your ID, but if you are not staying at the resort, that is when they want to see your ID. Only reason o asked was when I was staying at a resort and drove myself to a park, they didn’t ask, and next time I wasn’t staying at a resort and they asked, so I was confused lol. I’ll see if they ask me for my ID during my next visit with a resort stay

The ap ID asking at parking is pretty random. I go to the parks 3 times a week, epcot and ak almost always ask for ID while mk and DHS don't do it as consistently. One of those "rules" that are not really enforced

Oh, I'm sure. I can't remember what park I was going to each time, but it def took me by surprise the first time they asked me for my ID when they hadn't asked for it in so long

Random or otherwise it makes perfect sense seeing how if you are at a resort you get free parking AP or no. But not at a resort you only get it free with the AP

Honest question, why does Disney have to do something for DVC members?

Good question. In this particular case, they don't.

DVC is lodging, Annual Passes are tickets. They are via the same company but they are not intertwined. Every DVC member makes their own decision on what type of ticket they want. If they purchased a lower tier ticket, they get the benefits of that ticket. Disney has opted to not open previews to those tickets - for whatever reason. DVC isn't being shut out ..... those that opted for a lower tier AP are. All about APs, nothing about DVC.

The same reason they do something for AP holders. Both pay extra for more Disney. It is the least Disney can do for us Uber fans

Money paid to DVC has nothing to do with money paid for tickets. DVC folks have the option to purchase the top tier ticket. If they opted not to spend that money there is no reason to believe they should get the same benefit as those who did pay that money FOR THIS EVENT. DVC gets their own events and perhaps they will get one later.

I (warmly) chuckle at your Uber Fan comment. I know several DVC owners that hate the parks, don't even go in, they just wanted a timeshare there, like the DDP options and dining around the resorts. Not Disney fans. AND I assure you there are some folks on here, lots of them, that are insane lifelong Disney fans and they have no desire to buy a timeshare. 🙋‍♀️ I opted for something else for my home away from home ........... but I have still been going to Disney since it opened and spent about 6 weeks a year at Disney World for the last decade.

I got previews for four people for Pandora and I was the only annual pass holder. All others were my guests.

Were you DVC? If you got them in purely on your AP than that was a glitch and not sure why it wasn't caught at entry. We had to scan every one of our tickets and they checked on iPads to insure we were all AP holders. Disney was very clear about that up front and it shouldn't have happened .... if you were doing the straight up AP Preview.

It's awkwardly worded. Toy Story Land was very clearly worded that it was yourself plus 3. This one is worded "yourself and a guest" ........... I think unless they clarify everyone needing extra should have a plan.

You don’t get free theme park parking if you’re staying at a resort and drive your own car in. You would still have to pay parking fees

While that is true one is tickets and one is lodging, Disney DOES intertwine them a lot. Disney puts DVC members and AP holders in the same sentence a lot. DVC/AP get same discounts on merch and food, just this week AP AND DVC both allowed to book a day early for Candlelight, DVC allowed extra time into MK for Halloween and Christmas parties, AP/DVC get same discounts to ticketed events etc... the list goes on.

I am both DVC and AP member and I get both the Mickey Monitor and the DVC Disney Files Magazine and there are tons of similarities when it comes to events and discounts that are offered to both DVC and AP.

This preview truly IMO was not about AP's it was a marketing technique and a way to try to diminish the amounts of pass holders. If it was about only AP's they would of opened it to Plat and Gold members at the very least.

If you are a Disney World Hotel Guest you get free theme park parking. You only pay parking fees at your hotel.

If you are an AP holder you get free theme park parking ... no matter where you stay.

That's not true. Theme park parking is free for those staying on property. You do have to pay to park at the resorts now, though.

We can agree to disagree. Just because they both have some of the same benefits and same perks doesn't mean they are the same. A CM gets some similar perks and benefits .... they are not the same either. They are all completely different profit centers under the same corporate umbrella. Being part of one does not offer you the perks of the other unless you are also part of the other.

Disney chose the audience they wanted to host .... DVC had equal opportunity to be part of the audience. There is zero reason for DVC to be upset about this .... especially since they'll likely get a private event later that will be even better than this preview, with only one ride.

And honestly I believe they haven't offered it to Gold because they are the most likely to be able to attend. The land is being built on a shorter timeline than DL in harsher weather so likely they will be running this right up to the last minute. Best way to look good offering AP previews, in shorter window is to limit the number of APs that qualify.

As a DVC member I am not upset by this event not including DVC, I also do have a platinum pass so it doesn’t exclude me from it and I got it at a nice discount. I have a lot of DVC member friends and they won’t go because they fear the crowds, and a few have PAP’s. I do plan on going if I can get in and get the time off work. I am also hoping for a DVC event later, because why not 😂

It doesn’t really matter to me. I was under the impression that if you didn’t have an AP you paid for parking. I’ve always had an AP, so I haven’t paid for parking in years :confused3

No, not true. You do not pay to park if you are staying at a resort and drive to the theme park. Never have. And until recently, didn't pay to park at the resorts either.
And it would matter to others reading here which is why it is important to keep facts straight, in this instance.
And importantly, it's why if you are a resort guest and an AP holder they wouldn't bother to check your ID but if you are not a resort guest and an AP holder you should expect to show your ID to park, even if they don't always ask. What they are supposed to do and what they do do is not always the same.

And the corrected information is out there. There’s no point in saying the same thing over and over again. I was under one impression, it was wrong, it was pointed out, that should be the end. No reason it needs to be constantly stated. Just because I say that it doesn’t matter to me (which it doesn’t) is not me saying that it doesn’t matter to anyone else. This constant you’re wrong correction is throwing this whole thread off topic. How about we drop it here?

We are in the same situation ...
Four family members and one my Disney account. Will each person be able to register separately even though we all share the same my Disney account (husband as the lead)

What happens to families with three children, will the children be able to register themselves ??? Usually I thought you had to be at least 18 to do any registrations

The way I read it, you can register yourself and one guest. Now it may just be poor wording, but that’s simply how I understood it. That, and everyone must be an AP holder.

Now if the links were email specific(which they most certainly will not be, but let me play devil’s advocate), then it would be wise to have each person have their own MDE. That way more email accounts= more emails. But if creating them under 30 days before the link drops, then it still wouldn’t make a difference because the likelihood of any emails being sent is very low. Even after 30 days it’s still considered a low probability. I’m just saying how it might be easier if you have more than one email account(MDE) to use for registering.

Amen to that. Parking fees, the hot weather and the need to stay hydrated... all very interesting topics in their own right, but it would be really helpful if people could take note of the thread title first, as that's the whole point of having focused threads...
