I’m ecstatic it’s not a lottery. Or an invite only. ‘Lottery’ in the sense of businesses is never truly fair- there is always a way to buy your way in. If you have the right amount of money, you can be guaranteed a spot if you know the right people. I’m happy just watching the blogs and pages and refreshing- it gives me something to do right now when summer is at a lull. Once the event comes out, people will know if they can go and if they can plan to go. I remember going opening day for TSL- let me tell you, in my own opinion, I absolutely LOVED getting there at 4am ish and waiting. But that is just me, I enjoy the wait. I would happily sit outside of Hollywood Studios(again!) to wait for the opening of SWGE. Heck I’d start lining up at 7pm if it meant I could just sit outside with food, a book, and a light to read by :rotfl2:

Disney probably will have paid events, but not until after opening, which is fine by me. If I can’t get into a preview, then I’m looking to either the weekend after opening or Christmas:)

It's not going to be "fair" however they do it. It's not fair right now if i get in my flight will be an insane amount of $ because they are not giving us enough time. Whatever they do they are not going to make everyone happy. And at this point Im more frustrated than anything else how unorganized SWGE is with details in order to plan. Even when my 60 day FP rolls around Im still unsure on how to plan my HS days and the TSL monring event is over which we enjoyed as well. Im just overall frustrated at this point.

Yes it would I guess I should have clarified I meant invite only. Random lottery. At this point I'm over this event if i can go great but they are not giving much time to plan for out of state pass holders . I rather just have an upcharge event to get in when our october trip comes around so I can actually enjoy my vacation without having to get up in the middle of the night with a toddler so I do not have to be there for a rope drop. Or spend a couple of grand for a 4 hour preview come august.

Even if they have an upcharge event, it's either going to be early in the morning or late at night and I suspect those would sell out quickly as well.

Really, this isn't a matter of fair or not fair. Most likely they don't even know the exact dates yet. Some of us already have FP's and dates set that will have to be adjusted if we choose to go. I wish I had known about this when I booked and would have chosen a more likely date. But, it's free, hard to complain. If it works we'll go and be thrilled. If it doesn't, just the way it works. It's as close as I've ever come to being able to attend an AP preview.

Im fine with that

Me too! I don't expect to see any as they already have EEMH's and it's pretty hard to find more hours in the day. But if they do, I'm in. I think the EEMH's are going to be jam packed and I'd love to have an opportunity to go when it's not absolutely wall to wall people.

This isn’t a grand opening. AP Previews are sort of like soft openings for CMs. The grand opening will still be on August 29th and you do not have to be a passholder to start going to SWGE from the 29th forward
Sorry for using the wrong term. Yes, we will be there on the 29th. Had just hoped we’d also have an opportunity for the Preview.

I was out yesterday at DHS in the evening and started seeing the chatter on the boards and get excited for all of you who can register then I read the actual "announcement" anyways post 1 has been updated
I honestly think they are waiting for the construction team to hand the land to operations to announce the dates of previews. That can be as early as the end of next week

I think the PAID events will be coming when the land is "fully" operational with both rides open. Maybe Nov or Dec.

Disney will have to do something for DVC members. So if they are not included in the AUG previews I can see the DVC members getting their time in Oct or Nov as DVC only events probably in the evenings since the EMH will be in the morning through October and possibly extended for the Holiday season.

I hear ya. I hope they have a paid event also when we go in April. No way I’m going to be able to find a DVC room this far out either. Everything is pretty booked unless I get a bungalow at poly. Lol those r wide wide open.

I think a totally lottery via email would be a good option. U getcthe email u already have a spot. If u want it.

Completely OT but does anybody want 3 FP for Flight of Passage for 30/08 that I’m about to release? We’ve decided to go to Miami a day early in our vacation so I won’t need them.

After these are done in November I hope they do an Early Morning Magic just for SWGE aside from the rest of the park. If they do one including all - everyone will just go to SW anyway, might as well double their money while managing crowds.

Not 100% sure what you are saying, but based on Disney’s past sending emails, no one would be getting their emails.

I believe we all agree that the passholder previews are a way to limit opening day crowds. If this line of reason is correct then I believe that this event is not for anyone with a platinum pass but rather more specifically for the Orlando and Florida residents who may not need to plan very much in advance. I think that if Disney announced the dates early then we would all make plans to go rather than getting the Orlando passholders "out of the way" before opening. If I lived in Orlando I would go for previews and then not for a long time after. So Disney may be strategicly waiting for a late time so as to let the Florida/Orlando APs in so they won't come to opening. At least these are my thoughts.

I assume you mean DVC specifically being invited in AUG previews since any who are Premier and up Passholders can obviously sign up. I mean it's not like DVC can't buy the needed AP type or anything (like the way out of State guests can't buy select AP).

I am hoping for an evening paid after hours event like they do in MK where you don't need regular park admission in top of the hard ticket. This way we can do a trip basically just for that rather than a big long trip for all of WDW

Yes I meant ANY DVC member.

Considering the non local, out of state AP holders that are still in an easy drive distance I can't see this even being a consideration regarding their not giving dates.
They've never given dates in advance. It's the nature of an invite fur this type of thing. They have to nail down many variables before they can release final dates. That's it. That simple. It's not a conspiracy to rule out certain eligible passholders

This is what I am waiting for too. I am 2 hours away so as soon as they announce one of these I will be on that with a specific trip just for that.
