I agree, as the hype dies down for me I am realizing I am going to disney for 2 weeks in october and if i do go in august this would cost me 2 grand for the amount of time i have been wasting waiting for this to drop i could have waited in a five hour line and save myself a ton of $ too.
Hey, logic. We ain't got no room for logic around here, LOL

I can't help but think they are still trying to figure out WHEN the land will be consumer "ready". As an aside, I have 4 different consecutive room reservations for the end of August into the first week of Sept and I was concerned about being able to book my FPs this morning for the whole shebang. I called disney last night to see if there was some way to make it so I could book all FPs for the entire stay today (today was my FP day for the first 2 night reservation). The CM was great and we were joking about SWGE opening and such. When she asked me at the end of the conversation if there was anything else she could do I casually mentioned she could give me a hint as to when the previews would be open. She laughed and said her dh would like to know too and that IF they did tell the staff they would have to lock her up in a room by herself because she couldn't keep it a secret.

My draw on this is the (hopefully) reduced crowd levels and it would open up my time on our very short September trip. Our current plan is to just do the emh’s, but with all the resorts, those are going to be jam packed. Besides, I can’t wait in line in my pjs, sipping coffee.:)

Think about it this way for D23...the more people that are going there(AP wise) the less WDW has to attend the previews of the previews occurred during those dates. I think there might be some *very* upset Passholder who didn’t know the preview dates so went ahead and booked everything for D23 and then preview dates came out and they couldn’t go. But then again, Disney might be doing that on purpose because the do want less people going to previews. It’s all up in the air now!

Oh, and morning everyone! I sure hope that this drops either today or Friday, but I’m leaning more towards Friday...@cakebaker you may have been right from the beginning!

I am in the same boat (planning on going in October), but I feel having the chance to see the land with a LIMITED audience without worrying about trying to use the EXTRA Extra Magic hours, just may be worth this wait. Especially since the event itself is free (and as a passholder, tickets are already bought and paid for).

And if we experience it in August FULLY, we can experience it way more casually in October (try something we missed, just walk around and notice the theming, etc.)

Agreed....but if it's too early in august there is no way we can make ANOTHER trip to WDW since we'll already be there for 12 days for the grand opening. I would much rather see the land with limited peoples! Sigh. If I could convince dh we should go earlier in the month for an anticipated preview I'd be there in a heartbeat. Even if just for that...for the weekend....

Since D23 is the 23rd thru the 25th, do you think they will be planning around those days?
I think that's very unlikely, especially given that it's only 4 days before open to the public. They would certainly want to give CMs a chance to practice on smaller, more manageable crowds. I still think it would be 14 days or so before public open, but that's just speculation.

I have to admit that I am getting bored of all this monitoring!!! I am trying to fight it, as I do want to get these! But I don't think I can do 3 more weeks of this....

I do feel like, if they don't announce it this week, next week will be a wash with the holiday....

See that CM probably is telling the actual truth. The other CM that some mentioned before, probably has no idea!

I am sure the D23 people will be getting special access to Galaxy's Edge out there, right? I think Jim Hill said, that they were hoping to have Rise of the Resistance open for D23. Which if that were true, that would make up for not being at AP previews.... But I do wonder if Disney is trying to figure out when exactly to do it!

Don't worry we'll get to 100 before this thing drops
We will be at 100 in the next hour, at the rate this this goes!

Yeah, I'm well aware of that, FP for their trip has happened. But they arrive well before opening day. I'm specifically talking about OPENING day itself being 60ish days out.

After I sent that I realized obviously you would know that. Sorry. Sometimes I forget who I'm talking to after all the conversations I have with people who have no clue. haha

I would think it would make sense to have *something* related to Galaxy's Edge for D23 goers - Rise of the Resistance would be cool, though I would think they would want WDW's version that is still sans RotR to open before that ride opens at DL

.... though perhaps that explains the AP previews - at least have the land in WDW open for previews (to take place prior to D23) and then they can preview RotR to D23 guests at DLR

That little article "Disney Rumor Round Up June 2019" on the right says it's expected or rumored to be "early/mid August" for the dates. Not sure where they get that info or if it's accurate. Who knows? Still waiting for something official.

That would fit my schedule perfectly if true.

wow, way to narrow it down, LOL
Concerning it opens in late August it didn't really take an insider for them to figure that one out :chat: ;)
