annual passes

Roughly 13% for most options, I think it's about 11% for the PAP. So if there is more than a month beween your expiration and next visit AND you will be able to get more than one visit, just buying a new AP or PAP will be better. Of course each situation is different so everyone should look at their own circumstances and decdie exactly what's best for them.

So, let's see if I got this right. If you buy a annual and your first date there is May 1st, then it is good to April 30th the following year. Right? Now if you decide to renew, it goes into effect the next day, May 1st, even if you don't go down till June? I suppose this could be a loss unless you intend to still make two to three trips in that year. Otherwise, you'd be better to wait till June to buy. Right again?
Btw, what is a PAP?

OHHH I got it LMAO it took me a while and some explaining. SO you mean that with AP you go down twice in one year like 11 months apart and then wait till the next year to purchase it again and do the same thing. So technically you are buying the AP once every 2 years ...Lightbulb time LOL and if you can go three times you get 3 uses in one year...Ahhhhaaaaa. LOL Thanks for explaining it ;)

IMO I think if they gave AP discounts to DVCers they would get more $$ in the long run since I would go down more :)

The fact that you would go down more really would not make much of a difference in Disney's bottom line. :)

You need to realize that DVC is a separate company from WDW and they have to negotiate any and all discounts.

No, actually they start the day you activate them even even you buy them ahead of time.

That is true ONLY if you do not purchase them at Disney or the airport. If you purchase them there they are activated the minute you purchase them.

BTW, I LOVED the will call option. It was great.

True I guess I think of them as one entity the Disney empire LOL But you are right I guess they have figured out what way they make more $$. I guess if airfare was free we would be down more also :) LOL I am dreaming :)

I opt for a new pass each time, unless my expiration overlaps a stay, which has not happened yet, I am great with my timing. :)

LOL, I guess they figured out the point of being in business is to make money. Darn that Disney anyway. :)

Nope, it expires on May 1st. You actually get 366 days. Don't tell Disney, they may think they are losing money. :)

Sounds like you got it right. If you'd go down in June, it depends on when you might go again as to what would be best. Assuming an AP would still be best, it would be better to get a renewal if you would not go the end of the second year (May to June) and better to get a new pass if you'd use it during the few weeks or months you'd lose with a renewal.
