Hello out there! We just purchased a condo in Kissimmee and I was wondering if anyone knew how difficult it is, or what is required to get a florida state ID so I can get Disney Annual Passes at in-state rates? The Florida DMV site is very vague. Thanks so much for all of your help!!!

The DMV page isn't really vague, it clearly states that Florida Identification Cards are issued to non-driving residents for identification purposes in lieu of a Florida drivers license.
It does give exactly what is required to get the ID card if you look on the site. Not sure what they do if you have a driver's license from another state and us that for ID as they cut up my NY license when I changed it for Florida license. Go to the page and look at the ID area, it will give you the exact requirements of what you need.
Disney has gotten picky since technically the Fl resident passes are for residents of the states. Not sure what they do about Fl ID's.

I guess I should have been more clear. The condo is a second home - for vacations only and I am not giving up my current drivers liscence. The site says we need a valid drivers liscence in another state to get an ID for Florida, but I wasn't sure if we needed to prove anything else as far as ownership in the state for our second home. Thanks!

Corena-I'm in your exact situation. I have a home that I rent in Palm Bay and am having a condo built in Melbourne for vacation purposes but live in NJ. I actually called guest services and they told me I have to be living in Florida to be considered a Florida resident which meant either a Florida issued driver's license or State ID. I told them I lived part time in Florida but they still said as long as I had the proper Florida ID I could purchase an annual pass.

Hmmmm... so I guess all we can do is go down to the Florida DMV and try to get an ID. I'm sure it can be done because so many people winter in Florida!

Yes, it sounds like it but I really don't want to spend my vacation at DMV either. I'm wondering whether they would even issue a State ID if we don't live there year round.

We were in the same boat, we went to the DMV, all you need is your
Florida address and social security card to purchase a Florida, cost 8 dollars I believe and they said you can renew it on-line when the time comes. We purchased seasonal annual passes for Disney. Its the sun bird syndrome, 6 mos. north and 6 mos. south, so we're considered seasonal. Did not have to produce any out of state driver license, just social security card.

Thanks so much for the information!!! I am so psyched about that. Thanks again for the feedback!

Hopefully you won't have to waste a whole day... I know we are from Rhode Island and around here, if you have to go to the registry it is a whole day event. AAA just started offering Registration and Liscence renewals at certain branches in RI for members and it has been an absolute joy! So far we have renewed two of our vehicles and my husband his liscence and it took about 10 minutes per transaction! I swear it is some kind of record. Good luck - let me know how you make out! It sounds quick and easy - depending on how many people are in front of you in line :)

Thanks so much Pepe for that info....at least now we know we don't have to be permanent residents in order to obtain a Florida ID. What do they want to see as proof of address, a utility bill?

Coreena-I'M from NJ so you know how our DMV offices are!!!!

Many DMV offices in FL are very busy. You would be wise to make an appt. to get the card.

Warwick here...ain't it the truth about the Registry? When I used to go to the old office in "The Bucket"...I would periodically ask myself if I REALLY needed to drive anywhere at all...it was THAT frustrating! Now I just renew registration online and go through AAA to renew the license. THANK GOD! :lmao:

when we moved here, we just showed our out of state DL's and a copy of our first electric bill. we had AP's about 5 minutes later.

We have 4 of us on the Mortgage for the condo... so we put two names on the Electric Bill and Two on the phone just in case.... I'm glad we did that now!

Flatline-When did you move to Florida? I ask because when I spoke to guest services they told me my NJ license and a utility bill or anything showing my name and address in Florida was not good enough.

a couple of years ago. we went to Disney store here and bought the resident AP's. they assured us at the store if you had a lease, a utliity bill, mortgage info with your current FL address there'd be no problem. we went MGM with our vouchers and our info and they processed the AP's right away, no questions. I took a copy of our utility bill, cable bill,

which was good because it took me about 6 months to finally change over to a FL license.

I'm sure they do sell AP's, but only the stores in Florida sell the resident AP's and SP's.
