Hi,
Leaving in a few days for Uni, and have a quick question about annual passes .
Does anyone know if annual passes are upgradeable ?
I have a power pass, which will work out great for our travel time in December (non-block-out) and not really sure if we will get back to Uni next summer.
IF we do ..........thats a big IF ..........does anyone know if the power pass is upgradeable to the preferred pass, and if so how much the cost is.
I am assuming its like Disney where they would just charge you the face value difference in the passes ? If that's the case, it looks like its about a $80. difference per pass . Since we are not even sure if we are going next summer, I dont want to spend the extra $80. per pass "just in case we go" next summer. It would be a far better option if we could just upgrade the AP's IF we decide to go next year .

Just debating if I should get the whole family power pass's for our December trip (but only if they are upgradeable) or just get 4 day , 2 park passes with a 10% AP discount . If they are upgradeable, I may just get the whole family power passes ......... then, just in case we go next summer, we can just upgrade them (hopefully) .

Does anyone have any info on if and how the AP upgrades work ?

Thanks !!!

You've got it right. :)
If by chance you're on a payment plan, you'll have to pay it all off when you upgrade. That's the experience my cousin had and it was verified here by the experts.

You can upgrade the PP to a AP but the day you first use the PP will be the start date of the AP year.

Thanks for the confirmation !

I just wanted to be sure that if we go next summer, we could upgrade the power pass to preferred to avoid the block-out dates .........again thats a big IF , otherwise I would just get the preferred right from the start.

Well, just bit the bullet, and purchased the whole family power pass AP's .
Maybe we will use them again ..........maybe not, but at least we will save a bunch of money if we decide to use them next summer !
Whew ........first year for WDW annual passes AND Universal Annual Passes !!! :cool1:

Just remember that the power pass is blacked out for US in the summer. It's from June 15 thru August 13, 2015.

Just saw above that you might upgrade for summer.

Yep, got the power passes because they WILL work for our trip in December ........will only upgrade them to preferred IF we decide to go in the summer .

Power passes were only $20. more than a 4 day park-park pass .
By spending an extra $20. per pass now vs tickets , IF we go in the summer and upgrade them , we will save $400. +

Just thinking ahead ............. :rolleyes1
