Annual Pass & Resort Discount

Hi All!

I apologize if this question has been asked before.

My DH and I are planning to get annual passes. I guess I have a few related questions.

1) Can I buy the passes online now, but not activate them until we get to WDW?
2) If the answer to #1 is yes, can we still get the AP room discount (assuming that they are available, in general, of course).

Yes and yes.
I booked a room using an AP discount rate and purchased my AP on the same date last year. I received my AP voucher in the mail and then took it w/ me when I went to WDW a few months later. We turned in the voucher for the AP and activated it @ Epcot (international gateway) and it's good for 1 yr. from that activation.

Yes. You actually don't need an AP to Book a room with an AP discount, you just need to have it at Check in. If you don't have it at check in, they give you the day to go get it and return to show to Check in desk.
So you could check in without AP, go to the park and purchase them, and show to CM at desk that night when you return to your resort.
You can also buy the AP in Guest Services at DTD as well as at park entrances.

We've done it both ways- buying ahead of time and getting the voucher, and another time we had park hoppers that we upgraded to APs after check in.

I thought I read that have to call to make your reservation, rather than be able to do so online if you don't have an active AP.
