Annual pass questions

H I had a few questions . I am planning to buy a seasonal pass for my upcoming trip.
1. If I order the pass online do I still have to go to the ticket booth to pick up a physical card?
2. with the seasonal pass, can I still get the hotel discount? When are rates released for September?
3. Is there a discounted renewal rate or is it the same price?
4. Do i need to show the physical pass when I take Hogwarts Express?
5. if I bought it ahead of time, does the pass become active right away or only the first day I use it?

1. Yes. And give yourself lots of time. It was a nightmare enough for us I complained. We were in line about 45 minutes because they don't do a separate line for pickup and folks walking up to decide what they wanted to buy.
2. Never did their hotels.
3. Yes if you pay in full "Renew and pay in full to get 20% off."
4. They scanned our passes.
5. At tickets they convert from voucher to ticket. So technically before you enter.

for 2, you still get the hotel discount with the seasonal AP. September rates usually come out around Spring (maybe April)

Just to add, if you purchase your AP and pay in full… and if staying at a Universal resort, you can just pick up your APs at the ticket desk in the hotels. We did this in August, walked right up to the desk and received our passes with zero wait.
