Does the year of an Annual Pass start the day you buy it or the day you first use it? I need to buy it end of this week to make FP but want be using it until middle of Sept. Really want it to last until next Sept.

Also, wondering about the present hotel discounts with the pass. Have BC booked for Sept. trip but it's only with the 15% discount.

Thanks!

If you buy it online, it starts the day you activate it at a ticket window or Guest Relations, even if you don't use it that day.

If you buy it in person at a ticket window or Guest Relations, it starts immediately, even if you don't use it that day.

If you pre-purchase, you must stop at either a Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Location at WDW to exchange for the actual pass. Your year will begin at the time of exchange.

if you are a FL resident and are doing the payment option then it starts the day you get the AP even if you get it on line not sure where you are from but this is what I was told.

opps just looked at your user name you are not from FL but just guessing I have seen stranger things before.

ONLY the payments start when you purchase on-line. You would still need to activate the pass at a Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Location which is when the clock starts ticking.

This is not what 5 people I know on the payment plan and Disney told me but it dose not look like the OP is from FL so it dose not matter

I would like to enter Epcot through the World Showcase entrance, however, I need to activate my AP.

Is there a place at that entrance to concert the certificate to the AP or any other suggestions you may have ?

Fyi - parksavers has 4day hoppers get 3 day free (total 7 day hopper) for ~$390. I believe this retails for ~$470. So I bought that ticket and will upgrade to AP when I get there essentially saving ~$80 b/c they use the retail value of ticket not what you paid for it.

I have purchased a 7 day MYW ticket for $390. If I go to convert this to an AP, I will get a value of $467 to exchange?

You have to use it first and then do the upgrade. So, enter Epcot with your 7 day pass, do some stuff and then upgrade it with a Guest Relations CM. They will be able to tell what you paid and all of that and they should "bridge" it so you get the full value. If the CM doesn't seem to be doing that, ask about it and if they are still confused, ask for a manager. My experience on upgrading several times is that the DHS and Epcot GR folks figure it out quick; MK not so quick.

If your ticket is a park hopper then yes, you will get $467.54 or the current value of the ticket to use as a credit when upgrading to an AP.

Good questions, I added it to the thread here: http://www.disboards.com/threads/understanding-annual-passes.3517240/

No, you don't. You can, but you don't have to. Price bridging is a manual procedure either way and usage is irrelevant.

Good to know. I thought I read somewhere in this thread that Disney knows the price you paid for the ticket and they use that figure for the cost of the difference for the AP.

We have a Florida AP and have used the payment plan, from the 1st year it started and our tickets have always started when we go to WDW and activate it, not the day we purchased it. Even when doing the payment plan, you are still purchasing a certificate and not a real ticket.
