Annual Pass questions

I currently have an annual pass that expires in December. I was just wondering how the renewal process works. For example, if I go in December, about 10 days after the expiration date and want to go to the Magic Kingdom, what happens? Do I go to the Magic Kingdom and renew the pass right there before entering the park, or will I have to take care of that somewhere else?

Also, my brother is thinking about getting an annual pass for himself. Right now he has a 10 day non expiring park hopper pass with 5 days left on it. Can he put that pass towards an annual pass? If so, how would he go about doing that, and approximately how much would it cost?

Thank you!!

Your AP can be renewed from 30 days before your expiration date to 10 days after to still get the renewal discount. Just march up to the Guest Services window on the outside of the park, present your AP with a photo ID and payment, :thumbsup2 and in about 2 seconds you will be on your way into the park!

Oh, sorry I don't know specific info on your brothers pass. I do know that he can apply the pass to an AP and it will be prorated accordingly.

Sounds great, thanks! I wasn't sure if you could renew the pass at the actual park entrance or somewhere else, but I'm glad to know that it's so easy.

I think I heard that the renewal window has been stretched to 30 days past, also. The pass date is retroactive to your original date, but you have a bit longer to get the renewal rate. Could be wrong, but I swear Lou on Mousetunes said that a few weeks ago.

You can only "upgrade" a partially-used pass within 14 days of the first use.

After the 14-day window is past, you can trade in a partially-used pass (assuming that you have the no-expiry option on it) toward the purchase of an annual lpass.

The trade-in value of each leftover day on the old pass is calculated by how much you originally paid for the pass, divided by the number original number of days. Plusses have no trade-in value.

To trade in your pass, simply go to any ticket window or Guest Relations window at one of the four theme parks.

I'm not sure that it's the original value divided by the number of days if it's a MYW. I think it's the difference between a 5 day pass and a 10 day pass, which is very little the way MYW passes are now structured.

Oh gosh, I see now that I made a typo. I meant to say 30 days before to 30 days after! Thanks for catching that, KickSave! :sunny:

Thanks for the info! I guess we'll have to figure out if it is really going to be worth it for my brother to switch over to an annual pass or just use up the remaining 5 days.
