I have been reading the benefits of having an annual pass. Has anyone used these discounts on merchandise at the parks? As far as the restaraunt discounts is it only for the person holding the pass or the entire amount of the check? Just don't want to expect more than is being offered.

We use our AP's extensively.

It has saved us more than the price of the AP in the discounts at the stores and restaurants.

You only have to show one card for the entire restaurant bill. The discount will come off the total of the bill. However, if you have two bills, you would probably need two cards.

One trip last year, we travelled with a group of 8. Although we all had AP's, we only showed one of them at the restaurants. We were never asked if any of the other party had AP's.

We even used it for water and drinks. Although most of the outside stands don't take the AP, all the stores have fridges in them with pop and water. We just pop in and grab our water there. 20% off 8 waters does start to add up :)

I only show one card for myself and my son whenever we eat or buy souveniers. They will not give you a discount at the parks for the little booths that are outside.

i used it wherever they would let me. i got a discount at one of the stands in IOA. my sister didn't know how it worked and asked before i could tell her. don't know if the employee didn't know or did us a favor but he punched in a discount and we just got churros.

i wasn't able to use it in the giftshop at HRH but other than that, I don't remember many restrictions elsewhere. like a previous poster said, it more than paid for itself. i used my AP last year for 3 trips to universal and can't even add up the savings they were so great.

Whenever I bought anything, I just handed them my hotel key (to charge to the room) and the AP. If they didnt give a discount, they would tell you. Never hurts to ask. People here have said you couldnt use them at hotel restaurants, but I used it at the Bula Grill at RPR and they gave me 10% off, so ask anyway.

I like the idea of always handing the cast member the AP and the room key.(hmm - i guess they are not castmembers here - what are they called?)

This trip we remembered to ask at about the AP discount at every place we ate or shopped (although i forgot when i bought by boyfriend a t-shirt at that kiosk outside of the hulk ride). The only place that did not do it was the cart venders. I do not think we got it on the funnel cakes or the turkey legs - but we did remember to ask. Some people just looked at us like we were clueless!

But we keep forgetting to ask about the onsite perks - like preferred seating and such. The most we ever waited was about 30 minutes or so at Finnegans at lunch time though so it is was not a big deal. However, if we would have shown the AP and Room Key automatically - the hostess said we would have been seated immediately.
