Most people use AP for room discounts. But with an AP, you also get some other discounts such as 10% off merchandise in some stores at downtown disney, free parking at the parks, 10% off lunch at various restaurants, 50% off miniature golf, great discount off of regular golf courses, 10% off water craft rentals, 10% off spa services, rental car discount, plus I am sure there are some other little perks I missed because I don't have my AP sleeve beside me. I think the percentages I listed are correct - they are from memory so hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong about anything I listed. You can also buy disney dining experience card if you are an AP holder and that gives 20% off of dining (including alcohol). You can also park hop with AP. I don't know if that is important to you or not. See the difference in price between buying the 10 day MY tickets with no expiration and AP prices. Then decide if you will benefit from any of the AP discounts. My DH plays golf several times each trip and save a nice sum of money with AP discount on golf.
