Annual Pass Question

My annual pass is expiring Jan 18th so I called and renewed. Now it says I have that annual pass and one that I guess isn't activated because it expires in 2030. I'm going back to Disney next week and will be back home before it expires. Can i just activate it during my trip in February since my current pass will still be working?

You shouldn't have to activate it. You're renewing so your pass doesn't stop, it just carries over for the following year.

You can stop by guest service and double check but your AP should be fine. The new date should automatically change once it passes Jan 18th

yes this is right since you are renewing your new AP will start the day the old one started and you will get the 13 month promotion going on now.

When you call to renew an AP, you usually get a 'renewal certificate.' Ticket windows or Guest Relations can apply that certificate to your actual pass. Regardless of when you come to do that, your new pass will go for 1 year (or 13 months currently) from the expire date of your old pass.

Make sure you stop by guest relations to "activate" your pass. If you don't, it won't let you in the park even though you see it with that default date in your MDE account.

There are some varying opinions on that.

Some have posted to the contrary.

I've gotten in without stopping at GS but went by after I got into the park because your discount card has an expiration date on it and I always need a new one.

We tried it the last 2 years and had no success...last attempt was at Food and Wine this year. I wish it did work that way...where the technology is smart enough to let you in. I was told by the CM there that you have to go there to activate it and get your discount card.

I understand, but some have posted to the contrary.

This is just my personal experience with renewals, so take it for what it's worth! I renewed my AP online and it was immediately active. I renewed my brother's AP over the phone and he received a voucher that had to be redeemed/activated at guest services. So, I'm thinking that renewal method determines if the AP is ready to use right away or not.
