i don't remember getting an AP perks card to show to get dining discounts when we activated our AP. Is it on the magic bands now and all we need to do is show ID?

You can request one at guest relations if you don't get one in the mail by your next trip.

You should have received one but if not just stop at a GS location to get one. I activated a pass last week and was given the card to be used for perks.

Whenever we get the actual AP activated at a ticket booth or guest services, we ask for, and are given, the actual cards; even when we once did not ask, they gave them to us. If you have already activated and did not receive them, just go to guest services and get them. You do need the cards for AP discounts because the band is not enough (I do not know why except for the possibility that whenever Disney gives discounts it does not want to make it too easy for you to actually get them). Note, if you did already get the cards, they may charge you a replacement fee at guest services for another one. Check your MDE account under Magic Bands for each person who has an AP. If it was provided to you, the twelve digit card number will be shown in the active/inactive list of bands and cards.

Thanks for the replies. We activated in August but I don't remember getting cards. We purchased the passes by phone and activated at the ticket counter in MK. I will look around otherwise I will ask when we go next time.

We purchased an annual pass for the first time this year. We went to guest services and activated the pass. While the pass was on our magic band, they also gave us a card that each of us had to sign. We were told that you had to have the card with you for many of the discounts.
If you didn't get a card or lost it, check with guest services.

I had to ask for it when I activated my AP. They no longer mail a separate discount card.

We got our cards last year with our AP magic bands (not the ones associated with a reservation).

I received mine at the time I activated the pass.

It's not just a discount card.

It's an actual rfid ticket that can be used to get you into the parks just like a magic band does. You do not need a magic band.

We sometimes have to remind the CM that we want the card as well. We renewed at the Guest Relations at DHS in October as our APs were expiring in early November. We brought out our current AP card which has 2016-2017 on it so the CM just used the same card for our new passes. As they were still issuing the same card this year as last year.

I think most CMs issuing the APs forget we need the card to get the discounts as they are so used to placing all tickets and APs on MBs.

Yes... we were tired from traveling and excited to be there I forgot to ask for the cards. I emailed Disney and I got a reply that did not answer my question ar all! It seemed like a generic reply like I was asking about what perks were available. I think I need to call and speak to someone at DVC.

Thanks for all of the replies. Whenever I'm unsure about something my DH says, " Ask your Dis friends!"

The only problem I had this past trip was using the AP discount at Mara in AKV-J. The lady at the register stated she had to see an actual card. I don't guess it pops up that you are a AP holder on their screen. She stated she had to see the physical card which was way up in the room.

Yes, the rules are that you need the card (and ID I believe). That's why having the card is so important.

The reason you always need to carry you Ap hard card too is merchandise locations don't have the ability to scan your band to see what type of pass you have, so they can't tell if you are a pass holder or not for discounts. Also, parking does not always have the ability to scan for parking either. If you don't have a hard card, just stop at any ticket window and ask for one.
