We have purchased annual passes which we will use for the first time when we are at WDW in late July. I have been reading about the new Fastpass+ system, and was wondering if the new system has an impact on how annual passholders will be able to get Fastpass for attractions? For example, I've heard that you may be able to "reserve" fastpasses in advance of actually arriving at WDW. Will this exist for annual passholders?

Thanks in advance...

Luke

1- It will have an impact on EVERY guest.
2- Yes.
3- Yes.

And, no, we don't have any idea when they will be rolling this into use. ;)

I was down at Disney with my annual pass and thought about upgrading the old pass to new entry system pass. I'm glad that I didn't the new system was slow and they had a lot of problems. Got into the park much faster with old system. I hope they fix it before we have to convert it over.

FastPass+ is still in testing stages. You can swap out your AP for the new plastic card which allows you to use the "touch to enter" turnstiles; this was fantastic when I was there I'm April. Once FP+ is fully instituted, you will then be able to use it with the new system. For right now, FPs are distributed in the same way as before. Not to worry. I'll be there in July and have no concerns. :)

one problem I have with the new plastic card is that when I used my Purell on my hands then touched my card where they wrote my name, it smeared my name :rotfl: I had to actually get a new card.... live and learn, do not touch your card after using any type of hand sanitizer! Your name can smear ;)

I do not have an AP :(, but I do like how FP is now.

Am I the only person that does not want to have the FP change? We plan a lot, but we ride rides as we feel like it and use FP as often as possible. My understanding is that FP+ will limit how many FP can be used in a day. Maybe I am confused about it???

Nope. I'm not happy, about the rumored FP tiers. I am unable to ride roller coasters, so I will not be able to use my FP limit. Nor, do I like the fact, that Disney will track my every movement with their new system.

It does not bother me that Disney might "track" me in their parks.

There are millions of folks (mostly younger) who spend a great deal of their own time posting, on-line, every breath and step they take, every blessed minute of every blooming day... to anyone and everyone on the globe... who wants to take the time to read it.

Why do I care if Disney knows I stopped by the Emporium for 25 minutes on my way out of MK?

A ray of hope for you then. The upcoming testing does not appear to tier the attractions, but allows the testers to choose any 3 FP attractions in any single park. Just a test, but the first one that allows this that I'm aware of.

Hate to break it to you, but they already track you in the parks via KTTW cards, APs or park tickets, etc. This is nothing new. They'll just be adding a few extra perks based on your likes and dislikes.

Gotta agree with this. Ever watch the TV show "Person of Interest"? Yes, there are cameras that capture your movements every single minute of the day. Ever get out money from an ATM? Gotcha! Most gas stations have cameras to catch "drive aways". Hotel lobbies? Yep. Drive a toll road? You are on camera when you hand over your money or now even when you go through the automated lanes. And yes, it's your face, not just the car (so they can prove who was driving). Here in my area, we have HOT lanes. No, not HOV lanes but HOT lanes which means you need to pay a toll. You drive in those lanes, you are recorded. Elevators? Yep - cameras in case you get stuck. Heck, I can't even walk into my building at work without having a camera on me.

And while I have no proof of it, I'm sure I'm on camera going through security at Disney World.

Reality and I'm used to it.

You forgot one: ever make a phone call? ;)

This is the part that bothers me. We typically use more like 7-10 FP on a typical MK day. We go back and forth all day to make the most of them. And at HS we use 3 or more FP just for Star Tours, not to even mention Toy Story or Rock N Roller Coaster!
We use them correctly and enjoy them.

The point of my post was that the 3--could be any number--could be chosen from the entire list of FP attractions, unlike previous tests where the attractions were grouped (one from Group A, one from Group B, etc.) or "tiered". I agree 3 is a low number per day--hopefully the final version of FP+ will allow more.

I agree with you, I don't want them to change the system either. We live in Australia and I am a planning nut. We are going to WDW for 16 days in Jan 2015 and I am just starting to plan, which I love to do, but by the time we go I am sure the new system will be totally up and running and it will change the way I tour the parks enormously. We also buy AP's because we are there for such a long time and I sure hope they don't bring in the 20 FP's per quarter thingy or we will be really disadvantaged because over 16 days that equates to just over one a day. It would not be economically viable for us to buy ten days passes and 6 day passes which is what we wold have to do to get the three FP's a day option. I really wish they would hurry up and come out with some solid info. It seems like all this has been up in the air for such a long time.
