Annual Pass line

Yeah but unfortunately this is only for CMs going to work.. we CMs who don't work in parks still have to wait in the regular line.. booo.

Nope. The CM line is for the CM and their guests to enter to enjoy the parks. :thumbsup2 You just use your Maingate pass to get in.

The following is what Six Flags offers. I am not comparing Six Flags with Disney (totally different venues) but wanted to list a few things the Six Flags organization does for Season ticke holders. Disney has in the past had special AP nights, really good discounts and special offers, not so much anymore.
Also Bush parks, univeral and Six Flags provide plastic media, the Disney carboard is quite fragile in comparrison. I use my card typically 30-50 times a year and have had it replaced 3x this year. i keep it in the holder and try to avoid all magnettic items. Re-issue takes a CM about 5-10 minutes, that has to mount up to a significant cost over a year considering the large number of AP's. I know it is just not me, family and friends report similar issues.
seperate line would be nice but not that important.
I realize Disney does not need to compete as much for business but brand loyalty should mean something.

My proposal would be for an annual pass line when you drive into the parks. It drives me crazy when I have to wait for 10 cars to go through, pay their money, ask 2 million questions, and all I have to do is flash my pass and drive on through.

The problems with all of these proposals are they make the assumption that the Guests who don't know what they are doing will read signs. They do not! Or if they do read them they think "this does not apply to me".

And as far as cast entering the park: If on duty they enter from backstage only; if alone they can use their ID card in any turnstile; but if bringing in Guests and using their Main Gate Pass they have to go through specific turnstiles as the guests are given tickets valid for the fastpass machines and reentry. Note that anyone can go through the turnstiles marked for cast, but usually that will have the longest lines.

Although a "special" turnstile for AP holders would be a nice perk I would settle for an "express" turnstile for adults without children, strollers, wheelchairs, or with children old enough to understand and manage the procedures. We waited in line at the turnstiles at HS for more than 40 minutes last month ... it was the longest line we waited in all week!

but don't you have to do finger scans as well? It's not stupidity that keeps the thing from scanning, often it is mechanical error...

I had that problem at SeaWorld last week. My brand new season pass never read my scan in four separate entries. It's a good thing I had my ID with me!

I'm with you! I get much more upset about waiting at the parking booths than at the actual park turnstiles. But like Cheshire said...nobody reads the signs, so it probably wouldn't help anyway.

Very true....I can't tell you how many times I get stuck behind someone in the epass line that just stops when they realize that they went in the wrong line and the toll booth starts beeping at them. I guess it's the price you pay for living in Orlando.

:woohoo: Did I read this correctly, anyone can use the CM line?

- Jennifer

Yep.....anyone can use it. But like said before, it's usually longer b/c of CM's getting people in with their Maingate. Then they go through and have to stop and sign the tickets, etc....but if it's free of peeps, go for it!

A few years ago when they used the 2 finger machine, I would completly agree with you. The ammount of people who didn't understand how to use that machine was ridiculous and probably doubled the wait times as a result. But now, when you only have to place one finger on the top, it is very hard to screw this up. In fact, I cant remember ever seeing anyone having a problem with the new machines unless there was a technical problem with the machine or their ticket. Of course the more AP perks, the better, but I wouldn't say that a seperate AP line should be a priority for the parks right now...

:thumbsup2 Great tip to know. If the line is empty next time, we might try it. Thanks! :goodvibes

I already posted my comments on the OP question but have a follow up for some of the replies.

The Cast Member entrance is almost always open to the general public. But I look for the shortest line and I've never walked through the designated Cast Member turnstile.

A PP commented on the fragile annual passes. I have never had to replace a pass except once for my own stupidity (left it back in the car). I keep it in my holder while I'm at Disney World. When I get home, I take it out of my wallet and put it in a drawer. I've been a passholder for ten years.

Strollers - I can see what happens with the people in the back of the line coming up front with their strollers. They see the magic entrance gate opening for someone with a stroller and think "hey, I can go right up there and get in without waiting in this line!" They don't realize that the gate only opens when the entire party reaches the front. I'd give these guys a break. If they are busting the line, well, pity the kid in the stroller. Otherwise, no big deal. It's not worth an argument before you even start your day.

This is going to sound really, really stupid but can't we all just get along?

I may not have been clear in my example. She had no stroller. She was just plain ditching.

 That is a great idea! However, I don't think they have a separate AP line at the entrance at this time. Maybe, send a suggestion to Disney?

- Jennifer

:offtopic: You mentioned sending a suggestion to Disney and I just had to tell you what happened to my friend. She sent in a suggestion on the DVC. She gets a letter back from an attorney stating how the letter is there to explain that they don't accept suggestions and how basically the letter didn't exist and neither did the suggestion she sent in. I didn't get to see the letter. I can see the point, every little thing they do I am sure someone would like to get paid for it being their idea!

I like that idea, because like the OP said, so many people are confused about how to use their tickets. I was behind a woman the other day who must have been told what to do 5 times by the CM, and just wasn't getting it right.

But, I don't see it happening. If anything, it seems like AP's get fewer benefits than they did a few years ago.

I heard that if a CM comes up with an idea, even if discussing it in the breakroom casually with other CMs, it becomes "property" of Disney. So, maybe the letter was pretty much telling your friend . . . If we use your idea, you don't get any credit or monetary compensation.

We've had no problem with our AP fading or bending. DH keeps them all in his wallet while at WDW. Then as soon as we get home, we put them all in our firebox until our next trip. However, I would PREFER a plastic ticket like the KTTW.

I find it to be common sense to wait in line with a stroller and then enter the little gate when your family goes through the turnstile. However, some people lose all common sense and courtesy when on vacation. I'm sorry some of you have encoutered these type of guests. Luckily, we haven't encountered any cutters. Then again, DH is 6'5". ;) Usually, I angle DS2's stroller to the side when in line to have it ready to go through the gate when I get to the entrance. So, maybe some of those "would be" cutters don't have a chance with me around.

:thumbsup2 I agree it would make life easier for those behind us without a stroller, if the parks had a separate stroller/wheelchair line. I always feel so bad holding up the line waiting for the CM to open the gate. We scan our tickets pretty quickly and have the whole routine down (as most AP Holders do :goodvibes ). More than half the time my family is already on the other side and I have to wait on the CM to notice the stroller. I know they are busy usually with two turnstiles.

:wizard: Honestly, I see nothing wrong with having AP lines and Stroller/Wheelchair lines at the turnstiles. However, ultimately it is Disney's call.

We'll see . . . :rolleyes1

It's nice to see that others think it would be nice. The pros and cons mentioned are quite valid. For those offended by my inference that you were part of the problem, my apologies. Since the new scan has been in place, it's much better. Don't the MYW tickets require a scan, too? There sure is a lot of scanning going on.

I agree with the pp who mentioned that there are plenty of people who probably wouldn't or couldn't read the sign by an AP entrance and use it anyway.

It just seems that there could be some additional perks put in place for us AP holders. We don't ask for much :lmao:

1) It is not always the fault of the guest.
2) Even CM's have trouble getting through.
3) Even AP holders can have a problem getting through.
4) Let's not start trying to make separate provisions or separate treatment.

5) I can see it now
. . . separate lines for AP
. . . separate lines for DVC members
. . . separate lines for adults
. . . separate lines for kids
. . . separate lines for US citizens
. . . separate lines for Green Card holders
. . . separate lines for foreign visitors
. . . separate lines for resort guests
. . . separate lines for
I agree 100% with you because if that ever happened then would those people want those same lines at the various counter service locations, because sometimes their lines can be long depending on what the time is.
