Annual Pass Help

What if they decide not to schedule workers until the last minute that way then? Cut the number of workers, put a pool of them on call. None of this is good for us, or the CMs. It's about lining the pockets of the investors by squeezing every last drop of Walt's vision and others' great imagination and creativity out of the parks.
again your lack of understanding how they operate is not letting you see the point.
Disney schedules their CM 2 weeks in advance, once scheduled the CM is guaranteed the hours, meaning Disney cannot all of a sudden cut hours because there's a smaller attendance number. CM are offered the chance to er (early release) if they want to go home early but if a CM wants to stay to get their hours they are protected by their union to do so.
A reservation system allows Disney to know, more clearly, how many people will show up on any given day and the demand for each park. Then they use this to schedule CM
There are no on call CM

Universal Studios Orlando has continued selling their APs.
Now that I am a local, I understand why so many locals with children prefer UO over WDW. I think local seniors are loyal to both ...
And SWO also is selling AP at a huge discount

We were going to come for a long, extended stay but without Annual Passes it doesn't make sense. I'm sure there are many like me. It's definitely a missed opportunity.
I agree. We have a trip planned in March. And I now have a couple unexpected extra days off work (forgotten vacation days) that I would have easily added a long weekend to WDW this month if I could pick up an annual pass. And..... I'd be booking our usual September trip. But if I can't get an AP no way is it worth it to pay such high ticket prices for what limited experiences there are right now.
So.... if no AP... it will be only one trip for 2021.

Exactly, this is where we are. If we could get an AP, we were planning a long trip this year then another next year. We spend alot of money, apart from the APs, on restaurants, experiences, hotel stays, etc. I'm just surprised. I'm sure there are many ready to throw their money at them and buy an AP! LOL And then further throw money at the other things Disney has. Now we may just do a short trip in the summer, but I'm still weighing the options.

I'm in a slightly different AP situation. I have one - not activated. When I had my last one I went to The World 5 times - from California. Disney made more money off of me than when I don't have an AP and go once a year. The out of State AP holders spend a lot more during their year than locals do.

I'm trying to figure out when to use it for the first time. I know I need to go at least twice - I like to go four times. Crazy problems we have, isn't it?

It just doesn't make sense. Disney "needs" money. APs give them capital NOW. Not sure why they would not want that?

I did finally get a response from VIP help desk:

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort and for being one of our valued Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club® members!

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of our cherished Annual Passholder family. At this time, new annual pass sales are temporarily paused. We anticipate resuming the sale of new annual passes at a later date. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding at this time.

Not much help at all.... I just want to give them my money. They are actually making it hard to do

So my wife and I have our DVC renewals and will activate them in February when we are down there, but I also wanted to get APs for the kids (adults). Instead, I'll have to get hoppers. In the past, you could upgrade from hopper to AP -- we plan to return in October -- will I get credit for their hoppers against an AP?

Probably not -- I guess if they are back to selling APs in October, then the kids will still have a year from then to make use of them -- that shouldn't be an issue.

Our AP accidentally lapsed a few months ago; I called Disney and they said they'll renew it since we were a previous holder.

So are they only allowing those who held passes during the shut down renew? We let our lapse at the end of 2019, but really want to buy some for this year. I’m assuming we are out of luck until they sell them again. Let me give you my money Disney!!
