Hi everyone.
I will be travelling on 2 trips within a calendar year with my teen age daughter. I know the value of getting the AP and will get one for myself for sure.
My question is: is there any downside to just buying an AP for myself and regular tickets for my daughter? I did the math and it's cheaper to buy regular priced tickets for her.

I can't decide if I should just buy one AP for myself or get 2 for both of us. Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks.
Liz

What ticket are you considering buying for your daughter? Are you including park hopping (which is a great benefit for the AP)?

I would say splurge and get APs for your daughter and you. There may be times she may not be with you and qualifies for an AP discount (food, merchandise, etc.) if she has an AP

I believe that there are sometimes AP only events and if one happened to be going on while you were both there, you run the risk of her not being able to attend.

If you don't intend to do AP events trust the math you've done and pass on getting her an AP. If that's the route you take I would purchase her normal tickets now in case of a price hike.

The thing about AP events.... at the end of the day you're spending more money instead of less. Yes you get to do more but that's not good if you're first goal is to cut down on your trip cost. Not having APs for both of you will eliminate the urge to do AP extras and/or squeeze an extra trip in when maybe it's not in your best budgetary interest.

Good question. I hadn't thought of that. I was just going for regular day passes... however we are definitely planning at least one park hopping day and 1 water park day. Thanks!

Back in my AP days, I found that buying an AP and individual tickets for the water parks was less expensive then getting the AP and more. Especially if you're only doing a day or two.
