Annual Pass expires during trip

Not sure which board this best applies to but I’m looking to book a trip during the last week of my Annual Pass year and won’t be renewing. If I want to use an Annual Pass room discount but my pass technically expires the day before my check out date, would that be allowed? I would still have a valid pass at check in and for most of the trip.

I would anticipate (and this is only a guess based on other discounts) that you could book but, any dates after your AP expires you would be charged full price for those date(s).

Since Disney requires everything paid before arrival, the only way to know for sure would be at check-in (which would eliminate the surprise on checkout)

When you do a room-only stay Disney usually charges your CC the morning of your check-in day. You pay your deposit of one night when you make your reservation, then the remainder is usually charged the morning of (or at midnight your check-in day). When you do online check-in, you usually have your CC on file and therefore they charge it that morning and you are good to go to your room as soon as you get your room ready text. Your hotel should be paid off on the first day of your stay.

You should be totally fine. It really is no different then when WDW has a room special and if your 1st night is inside the date range you get the special rate for your whole stay.

I agree. I looked at the T&C for one of the current Passholders offers. It says twice that you have to present a valid AP upon check in but does not say anywhere that it must be valid for the length of your trip. The only way to know for certain is to ask Disney.

This is not entirely correct. If you are using a package discount, like free dining, it includes all of your stay as long as your check in date is included. If you are using a room discount & only some of your dates are included in the eligible dates, only those dates are discounted. Dates that are outside of the eligible period can be included in your reservation, but they are charged at full rack rate.

I think your addressing something different - "date" wise. Your looking at "package date windows". She is talking about "AP expiration date".

Sorry I disagree and will go with my history. I have did a handful of RO reservations where the last couple of nights were past the room special end date and have always been charged the special room rate for the whole stay!! Not to mention that even WDW CM confirmed what I said!

I’m glad it happened for you. That has not been my experience or that of many posters here using room, AP & Bounceback offers.

They used to keep the discounted rate through the entire trip for any type of RO reservation but it changed at some point, before the pandemic IIRC. There were a lot of posts complaining about the change. I have seen current posts of people who are having to pay rack for the days after their promotion ends, and I haven’t seen any current posts where a discount was extended after the promotion ended. Packages, so far as I am aware because I rarely book them, still carry the discount through the check out date. Of course, these policies are subject to change at any time.

However, this is a different scenario than the OP asked about. The OP has an AP that is expiring during a trip that would be completely covered by the AP discount promotion. Based on the T&C it appears they should be okay, since they only have to have a valid AP at check in, but since things at Disney change on a daily basis, there are no guarantees until they check in and confirm the policy.

However, I have booked many, many AP rooms online (most recent stay in January 2024), done online check in, and never gone to the front desk or been asked to come to the front desk to prove I have an AP. I have always assumed this was because I would have needed an AP to access those rates online to book in the first place. So it is also possible that the OP could book their room online and never have anyone ask to confirm their AP. Again, always subject to change.
