Annual Pass: Discounts & Perks

Is AAA the best way to buy an AP....is there a 5% discount at AAA and is this the best one can hope for as far as a discount goes (I'm buying APs for family of 5)?

Are the best perks with an AP (besides park access) the free parking and the 10% discount on many Disney restaurants, shops etc...

Are these the key advantages to an AP? Anthing I'm missing?

AAA does not sell annual passes. APs are only sold through Disney venues. The items you mentioned are some of the advantages. There are a few more http://wdwig.com/apass.htm

Actually you missed the single biggest discount you can get with an AP--discounted room rates. AP rates are only released 3-4 months prior to the travel date, and there are only a limited number of rooms available at the AP rate. But they can save you in excess of 30% off of the "rack rates".

In another thread someone reported saving over $120 PER NIGHT on a concierge room using the AP rates.

We are saving $371 over 3 nights with the AP rates at the Yacht Club (vs. rack rates). That'll pretty much pay for one of the adult passes right there, not counting park admissions.

i bought my ap from AAA. maybe they only sell the florida resident ap. not too many discounts at the parks

Please note that the availability of AP room rate discounts is not guaranteed - they "may" be offered - and should not be counted on when making the AP purchase decision.

Yes, there is "usually" an AP room discount; I just don't want this thread to become fodder in the next AP Discount Wars.

LOL, Dr Tomorrow. That is true. There were no AP rates offered for our August trip. However, they more than made up for it with our December trip. I am saving $270.00/night for 5 nights off the rack rate at the Polynesian over the holidays. That right there coveres the total cost of our 4 APs.
