DH & I are going over all the reasons we should buy DVC, and deciding if now is the time to buy. We have 2 trips planned for 2005, only 1 to stay at a DVC resort. (We have a family reunion planned for Pop Century). We will be buying AP's for ourselves, and I think I saw something about DVC members getting a discount on AP's...is that true? How much is it? Not sure if we want to make that purchase now when we are already spending so much, or wait until next year. We would be renting DVC points for the 2nd trip, never pay rack rate :D

Thanks for any input...

The AP discount could be around for the next 20 years, or it could end on 12/31/05. If DVC is in the cards for you, so be it. But just don't make the mistake of buying it based upon the value of discount programs currently available. Discounts are neither guaranteed to members, nor are they necessarily consistent in their value.

The reason I wanted to know about that particular discount is to see if right now is the right time to buy. The way I figure it is this...Save $200 on AP's, one month's payment, save $1200 on rental of a 2BR at BW in December, another 6 months payments. I think now is the time.

Thank you for your responses...I guess I should have read some of the other threads first, then I would have seen the answer to my question, instead of dupicating someone else's post,

I tend to agree. Speaking from experience, we rented before buying. Granted hindsight is 20/20, but I sure wish that $2000 we spent renting had gone towards paying for OUR points.

If everyone did that, all we'd have would be a board full of FAQs. Every situation is a little different--never hurts to ask.
