Hello all,
I was wondering how this works.... I want to buy an Annual pass for the end of July 2008 and use it again the en of June 2009 both 2 weeks each, added it up it saves abundle. Here is my question... how and when do you have to renew and what is the start date? We want to plan a Christmas trip in 09 and Easter trip in 2010 and long summer vaca also 2010. So can you purchase the renewal and then have it validated that 1st Christmas trip in 09 so we can use it for the next few trips or does the start date for the renewal begin when the old one expires? :) I hope I explained myself enough. Thank you all in advance! Hoping to purchase our DVC within the next few days! :) cant decide AKV or SSR ... thats whats holding us up:sad2:

Renewals start from teh last day of the old term for APs.

You need to by an new AP (not a renewal), and then they'll send you a voucher.

Or I just go to Downtown Disney to the Guest Desk and buy my DVC passes there. THey give me the discount and activate them then, and they are really knowledgable and make things easy.

If your buying the DDE card for Dinining, you may want to do the first (get voucher now), so can get your dining card in the mail in time before you leave (takes a month).

Best, Goldi

You can now also get the DDE card in person at Guest Services when you purchase your APs.

Thank you for the advice.... How much is the DDE and do you think it will be worth it? OH and what are the perks with AP and DDE? Yikes we just purchased the 200 pts. for AKV and i'm a little sick in the belly....I guess after 1 and 1/2 years of back and forth to finally do it:goodvibes :goodvibes

The DDE gives a 20% discount at almost all table service and buffet restaurants. It is $60 for one year, and is good for up to 10 people in your party, allon one check. You must have an AP or be a FL resident to obtain the DDE (Disney Dinining Experience) card.

Many years ago... you could purchase the renewals within a certain timeframe of your current annual pass expiration... and then you could validate, and start the clock any time in the future. It was a GREAT deal. Plus the renewal discounts were better than they are today.

Now... it is like the other posters said. A renewal extends your current expiration date by a year.

I have not renewed since they came up with the new program. It always ends up better for us to wait and buy a new annual pass.

Make sure to check the DVC AP discount prior to purchasing. With the dates you mention, you may want to buy the AP now and renew for next year. Check the numbers and see what works best for you. I believe the break even for an adult AP (I don't have the premium AP) is about 9 days.

GL with your DVC purchase!! If it makes you feel better, I debated for 10 years prior to purchasing. :wizard:

Thank you for all the advice...I think my problem is that we stayed at AK and loved it but hated the long bus rides then SSR seemed good but sept was an awful use year (we always travel in the summer)plus the dues were cheaper...since we just started the process yesterday do I have any options to change my mind, or change the resort or cancel or get a different use year! I'm very confused and not so settled.

You can cancel/change the contract, as long as you are within a certain time frame. (15 days?, it's been a while since I purchased.) If you haven't signed your contract, yet, there is not problem changing a all. Just contact your guide.

As far as use year, it will depend upon if there are points available in the use year you desire, as each use year has a specific number of points.
