Annual Pass Advice?

So its settled! DH has agreed and we are getting Premium Annual Passes on our next trip, Oct. 3-5 (mini getaway trip).

So I know about dining discounts that you get with the AP. But I was wondering if anyone could offer information such as perks with hotels and special promotions? How often does this occur?

Just wondering what kind of hotel rates I can expect as I am already planning the dates for our next trip sometime in Jan or Feb 2009!

We've had a premium pass for a couple of years , you also get discounts of merchandise. . not just food. . . we did the hotel discount once and personally i'd rather save the money and stay off site. . . this way we can go more often. . .

And if you are a pin collector, don't forget to buy your "Passholders Exclusive" pin from the pin store in Tomorrowland.

Just a little heads up, Gay Days Anaheim is Oct 3-5 this year at DLR. So if you see a bunch of people in red t-shirts, you won't be surprised by the crowds.

We're going to be there the same time!

When you get your AP they'll give you a list of all the eateries you can get a discount (15%). That's one of my favorite parts of having an AP.

They give you a list of places you qualify for a discount, you will qualify at some of the shops, the restaurants and some places in DTD as well! The hotel rates can be amazing at times with the AP% as well, as stayed in a DTD view room at the GCH (1 queen and 1 bunkbed) last November for $225 a night!!

thanks everyone! I know about gay days, we were actually in WDW for gay days for our honeymoon...we plan these trips and then later find out there is a special event planned...kinda ironic to happen twice in a row with our Disney trips.

I'll they be taking our picture on the spot?

Also, how does it work if we order the passes online, will the start date be the date of purchase, or the date of first use in the park?

Once you have your actual card, be sure to sign up on the website. Through the site, I was able to order POTC3 and it came with a keepsake thing that otherwise could only be gotten at the DVD release event in the park. Without the AP I wouldn't even have *known* about it, but b/c of the AP I'm looking at a matted picture of the Asian ship from POTC3 with a commemorative coin and a piece of the sailcloth. I know, not really valuable, but it sure made a good bonus present for Yuletime for hubby!!!
