Annual meeting

Sure, you can deduct most anything you want - the real question is whether it will hold up in an audit! :teeth:

In this case, since DVC has gone out of it's way to state in our documents that this is not an investment, it's not likely to be worth risking that audit, but you never know! :)

Good luck! :)

I just put in a request at member services that the annual meeting be Webcast this year. I see no excuse for not making it available to all members. Hopefully, with the new leadership, it will become a reality.

I requested it 2 years ago but you never know. They webcast DVC sales presentations so they have the technology.

My bet is that so few would tune in it's not worth the effort or expense. It's one thing to hold a required meeting and I am sure that members cover their costs through the administration fee but to charge members to webcast a meeting that we can read about here on the DIS is another matter.

I won't hold my breath, though. The membership meeting has never been about communicating with members or getting information out. It's only about meeting the legal requirement to hold an annual meeting.

I don't really agree with that. The board meeting is a legal requirement but not the other segments of the meeting. For the past several years the meeting has been a platform for announcing projects planned for the coming year, resort refurbs, etc. There is quite a bit new information disseminated at the meeting.

The member Q&A is not legally mandated.

That said, streaming the meeting in some manner would be wise. At least last year, they did have some sort of hook-up to the Grand Californian where members could apparently listen in remotely. But I don't recall that option ever being announced publicly before the meeting.

I wouldn't ever expect the Q&A to be broadcast but other segments of the meeting could be shared with all members.

Members will be receiving notice of the meeting (along with the proposed 2012 fees) soon. There will be opportunity to register in advance online, but you won't be turned away at the door either.

If you are going to be at WDW at that time, the annual meeting is worth making. I would not make a special trip for the meeting.

Last year, Jim Lewis promised that the online reservation system would be up and running by the "end of 2011". I couldn't tell if he had his fingers crossed or not.

Stay tuned! :)

The only thing up and running by the end of 2011 is Jim Lewis.....
Hie time is up and he sure got run off:rotfl2:

I just received the typical response from member services. They appreciate my interest, but at this time have no plans to webcast the meeting. No indication of why not was given.

Anyone have any idea which day the annual meeting may be?

The 2011 Disney Vacation Club Condominium Association Meeting will take place on Dec. 8, 2011, at the Walt Disney World Resort.

I believe it will be at 2:00pm at the Contemporary Resort Convention Center as it was last year.

Since I'm a brand new owner, would you explain this to me? Pretty please?? :confused3

Now, imagine the most irritating voice you can think of.

I had to go look this up. Oh wow. That is just embarrassing. :guilty: Who was the genius that came up with that?!?!?

If you go to the Merry Mixer or other private DVC event, you'll get to see her for sure. If you're lucky, you may even get to meet her daugher as we were able to do this past Merry Mixer.

I've been told the woman who plays Dee Vee Cee is great and does a fabulous job at other characters around WDW. I've only seen her as the above so I can't say.

What I can say is, I think it's great that DVC thought we should have our own "character", unfortunately they didn't plan her well and the whole charade is very obnoxious.

Read your quarterly DVC magazine/newsletter and you'll see articles by her (Where in the World is Dee Vee Cee most commonly). While they come across as somewhat dopey and juvenile, they don't do her in person persona justice.

A lot of members seem to find the character a knock on our intelligence. I, frankly, just find it annoying. If wanted to be screeched at I'd have picked a worse mother-in-law (mine's a saint and I'm blessed to have her).

On Main Street at the MK, she is the Mayor's wife - a very different character and role.

aww be nice. i like Deevee.. shes the ULTIMATE annoying tourist and over done Disney mom all rolled into one Disney repped character lol.. we will be at the meeting.. sorta excited oddly..

Member website now has an active link to RSVP for the meeting.
