We woke up a little later this morning, didn't end up getting on the monorail until close to 9am. We had reservations for Chef Mickey's for breakfast at 8am, but I ended up cancelling them. Everyone said they would rather grab a quick breafast in the F&FC, then have a nice lunch & dinner at Epcot. Fine with me, give me a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast every day & I'm thrilled.
I have to say that I HATE those big tombstone looking things that they have at the entrance to Epcot. My DH said they were there when we went in 12/00, but I didn't remember them. Is there no other design they could have thought of? It just takes away from the entrance to me.
We started by riding Spaceship Earth, always a favorite of mine. We were going to do fastpass for Test Track, but it ended up being a walk on. The wait was 5 minutes at the most, we went on 3 times! We headed over & did the Universe of Energy ride with Ellen & Bill, I love the dinosaurs on this ride....amazing!! We did the Life building (with the Body Ride), hit Ice Station Cool (China is my favorite), then headed over for Honey I Shrunk the Audience. No wait!! I finally got to do the Figment ride.....I LOVED it! I bought a figment pin for DD. Next we went through the aquarium, then waited 20 minutes stand by to eat at the Living Seas. I loved sitting next to the aquarium, watching the fish. We saw a diver in there, pretty cool! The waiter told us that we all could order off the kid's menu, it was much cheaper than the "grown up" menu. We all ordered the Mahi (fish), that came with potatoes and a vegie....for $8. YUM!! We all ended up getting dessert & were stuffed.
The next few hours were spent in the countries, we walked around to the American Pavilion & then the storm hit. Oh man, it was raining like you've never seen! People were getting soaked. I ended up buying us all ponchos, I could have kicked myself for not bringing the ones I brought from home. I paid $6 per poncho at the park, compared to $1 I paid for the ones from home! Oh well, live & learn. We watched the Starship/Mickey Thomas show during the storm, front row (which was covered). It worked out good for us! We love Starship, so we didn't mind at all. The kids were embarrased at Mom & Dad singing along & dancing though.
The storm passed within an hour or two, although it rained off & on during the night. We ended up eating a late dinner at LeCelliar in Canada, the cheese soup is to die for! The kids had the steak off the child menu, DH & I both had the Prime Rib. YUMMMMMY!! We loved the pretzel breadsticks too. We came out to catch Illuminations just starting, a perfect way to end the evening.
It seems no matter how many times I have been to Epcot, I still feel I have more to see. I think with the kids we feel rushed to get through the countries, next time we are going to start on the opposite side. We didn't have time to play with all the gadgets in Innovations either....SIGH. Oh well, there's always next time!!
