Wendy (me) 46 but feels 21 in mind - Disney mad, the planner
John (DH) 46 - getting almost at Disney mad as me
Glen (DS) 14 - our lovely little boy one minute, stroppy teenager the next and mature young man occasionally
Ashley (DS) 11 - the loud one! A lot of this holiday has been based around his needs with him being very special.
Saturday 13th October 2007
Wide awake for 6.30am and anxious to get to bag drop. Joined the queues and were called over the Premium Economy check in! Chap behind the desk gave me plenty of green immigration forms when he found out it was our first visit! Returned to the Radisson for breakfast. After this we went back to our room for a while so I could fill out the green forms in peace and quiet. I was shaking as I filled in the forms in case I went wrong!
A pre flight breakfast
Cleared security really quickly and walked down to the departure gate seeing all the planes on the way, when I saw the Virgin aircraft my excitement doubled (if possible). Had to go and see what she was called. VIRGINIA PLAIN.
We were about the last to board which suited me as I could stretch my legs for a few minutes longer, John was really anxious to get on board, dont know why, they were not going to go without us. However, when we found our seats there was a chap sitting in Ashleys. I pointed it out and he should have been in the row in front, he moved and apologised and we were sorted.
Big kids excited about their goodie bags.
Well entertained and fed.
I loved looking at the sky map, the highest we went was 38,000ft, the fastest I noticed was 559mph ground speed and it was -59 degrees C outside! We flew over the tip of Greenland and saw some beautiful mountains.
Food and drink were plentiful and the time passed remarkably quickly, I was really not looking forward to sitting still for 9 hours but I was surprised how fast it passed. About two or three hours into the flight I was thinking how well we were doing as the people in front hadnt reclined. After lunch had been cleared away and I was watching POTC3 the TV screen was suddenly plunged into my face and I was looking at the screen crossed eyed! I wouldnt have minded if the old chap sitting there was having a nap but he was reading his book, his wife did likewise so apologies to those sat behind us but we had to recline as well. I could have coped with the seat being closer if I was not watching the TV but it hurt my eyes. Even when they got up to stretch their legs they didnt pull the seats up! Ah well, you did all warn me. Must make a note of the seat numbers, 33 G,H,J and K - they were OK, window a little to the back of us but we could see something, the row in front 32 had a window completely to themselves and they werent even looking out AAARRRGGHH!!!
View coming into land.
We landed smoothly and then came the bit I was nervous about. I always feel guilty, even when Ive done nothing wrong, so I was going to have to face this huge immigration guy with a deep booming voice calling us over. Oh God, were the forms OK, please John dont crack any jokes! When he spoke to Glen, Glen straightened his shoulders and said Yes sir. But it all went OK.
Catching the train at MCO.
DME Check in desk.
DME bus.
First view of the Yacht Club.
I dont know if DME at the airport had told them we were on our way but we were greeted at the door by Cheryl (who addressed us by our names) and told we had won an upgrade as part of the YOAMD. We were escorted up the escalator as you had to put your card in to access the top floor and until we checked in we hadnt got a card.
Check in at the concierge desk.
The badges we were given to wear.
